Editor's Notes
A simple sentence only has one verb. A complex sentence has a main clause and one or more subordinate clauses: Despsite the bad weather, we all went to the beach. A compound sentence is simple sentences joined up with conjunctions and, but or so. An “-ing” clause is a present participle e.g.: Feeling tired, the girl went to bed.
