Let me share with you this trend we observe; the numbers that are held globally are increasing dramatically.
An average US employee, spends over 30% of his or her time in meetings.
Reason for this is that the world is becoming more complex...
Staying in the US, we see that there are over 3 billion meeting held per year. But 71% of us feel we are not productive during that time, which costs US Fortune 500 companies at least 75 million dollar per year;
In today’s knowledge economy, collaboration is key to succes. It is a fact that companies that succeed in letting tehir employees work better together, achieve substianly better results in the market. Key to succesfull collaboration is that each individual can share their insights and knowledge with the group in order to reach the desired outcome.
At the core of collaboration, sits the meeting. A meeting serves one of 3 purposes;
To inform: Align team members
To decide: Decide on what needs to happen
To create: Brain storm to create new ideas
Most meetings form a mix of these, so you need to accomodate this.
When having meeting, scientific research by Dr. Alex Pentland of MIT Medialab, shows that the communication of the highest value, is still face to face.
Most effective collaboration takes place when people are physically sitting together. Within business games he can even predict which team will win, just based on the number of interaction/meetings the different teams have with other parties.
Within meetings, the most powerfull way of aligning people on a message, is using visuals. Why?...
Well most of the bandwidth of the brain is actually dedicated to sight. The graph above makes this very clear. In this graph, the bandwidth of the senses are shown proportionally to each other and compared to computer networks.
Just test it out for yourselves
Your brain processes images 60,000 times faster than words. Even our long-term memory prefers visual concepts over words, making us recall pictures six times better than words.
Words are processed by our short-term memory where images, on the other hand, go directly into the long-term memory where they stick for a really long tome.“
Therefore, it is not surprising that it is much easier to show a circle than describe it.
This has been know for already quite a while. In 1986, a 3M-sponsored study at the University of Minnesota School of Management found that presenters who use visual aids are 43% more effective in persuading audience members to take a desired course of action than presenters who don't use visuals.
So in order to get the most of collaboration, it’s best to put your people together and let them share their knowledge visually with each other. Bringing engineers and artists together to create the most beatifull buildings, or cars....
Barco is convinced that we can help people work better together thtough technology.
So how does this relate to you? How does this effect you.
Well as an CIO you can enable your business users to collaborate more effectively, you can support the business in allowing people to connect easily with others and their information
20% of meetings that overrun, do so because of problems with equipments
IT managers face almost 450 issues with meeting rooms every year and walk a staggering marathon to fix them.
Why is that, well we all know this situation. You walk into the meeting, ready to share your latest and greatest ideas or numbers, and when you try to connect to the screen it all goes wrong; You did,n’t bring the right adaptor for your mac, your resolution does not match the screen’s settings, or refresh rates are ruining your presentation. Sounds recognizable, doesn’t it?
So how to solve this, well there are 5 principles you need to take into account
When we want to solve this issue, we need to come up with a solution that is.DEVICE FRIENDLY and OS friendly
We believe that in order to enable co-workers to share information the most effectively, they need acces to it, no matter what the source is.
People bring their own devices (laptop, smartphone, tablet) yet 68% claim they can not share from their personal devices today
GUEST FRIENDLY
As 33% of meetings include non-employees and you never know what they will bring along to present from. And to make our companies more succesfull, we need also these guests to be able to share their information
USER FRIENDLY
And it all it takes is just one click on a button! Userfriendly
Zero learning curve allows your co-workers to become productive from the moment they enter the room. Technology no longer is a barrier but an enabler.
Secure:
We believe solutions should be secure. Your meeting room finds itself at a very interesting intersection between the ‘dreaded’ internet, the guest network and the corporate network. You don’t want a guest to connect to your CRM, or the other way around you don’t want big brother spying in your meeting
IT FRIENDLY; you want to be able to manage everything centrally
So what does Barco offer.
Barco offers a wide arrange of products that integrates Audio Visual Solutions into the IT world.
All products are designed to let people work better together, connecting people and information in the most easy way.
ClickShare combines a base unit, buttons and apps. The base unit creates its own wireless network, on the 2.4 or 5 Gigahertz band. The buttons mirror your PC’s screen wirelessly to the base unit, whereas the ClickShare app for Android and iOS allows to share contents from your smart device.
You simply push the button and you are on screen, by yourselve or with multiple colleagues at the same time.
ClickShare is wireless. This means that there are no more cables needed on the meeting room table and that you can sell off all your HDMI, lightning, VGA and other adapters on ebay. But there’s more, you can now present with confidence as you no longer have to worry whether or not you will get onto the screen in the meeting room
ClickShare got a score of 4.5 in a recent review in PC Advisor and users simply love it: 94% of users say it’s user friendly, and 93% confirm it really improves meeting efficiency
Convince yourself, visit our booth and experience wireless presentation & collaboration for yourselve and be your own judge
