2. Front Cover
This is the image that I am going to use on my front
cover. I intend to manipulate this image by
completely cropping out the girl on the right and
leaving only Alex, on the left. I think that this is a
good idea for my front cover image as Alex is the
ideal model for a rock magazine due to her striking,
alternative look. I think her stretchers, piercings and
dark clothes make her perfect for my cover. She
looks moody and straight faced, creating the
perfect mise-en-scene for my magazine. I think that
having only one model on my front cover will
benefit my magazine as it means the audience’s
focus is only on one image, and they will be drawn
in to reading the magazine. The girl on the right will
feature again when I create my three-piece band on
the double page spread.
3. Contents Page
This is the first of my four images that I am
using on the contents page. I think that
this image is good for my contents page as
it shows that this is evidently a music
magazine through Molly’s guitar. I think
that Molly’s facial expression and black
jumper show my genre well as she looks
quite moody and her jumper is dark. I think
that I will link this image to a story to do
with the “20 most influential females in
rock”.This will appear to my target
audience as they are teenagers and if my
article is full of women they can look up to,
they can create role models to guide them
in everyday life.
4. CONTENTS PAGE
This image of Alice will be the second
of four images I intend to use on my
contents page. I think that the light
colours and positive look of this image
will subvert stereotypes of rock
artists, and show that they aren’t all
angry and sad, but a lot of rock is just
about having fin and loving what you
do. I also think that the light colours
will lighten up my contents page and
make it look more easy on the eye
without taking away from the main
feel of my magazine.
5. CONTENTS
PAGEI think that this image will be good for my
contents page. It will be the third out of
the four images I will use. I think that the
setting of this image is perfect for my
genre as the brick wall connotes the idea
that this artist is rough and ready, the
dark colours he is wearing also fit in well
with my genre. His direct mode of address
benefits the image as it creates a
relationship with the reader and it draws
them in to reading the magazine. This
model will also feature again in my double
page spread when I create my three-piece
band.
6. CONTENTS PAGE
This is the final image I am going to use
on my contents page, I think that it is a
good image to use as it links to both my
front cover and double page spread, it
will also be anchored to the main story
on my contents page. I like this image as
you can see that Alex, on the left is just
having fun, and this will make the page
look more positive and interesting while
also breaking from Hannah’s (on the
right) intense direct address. I think that
the setting is ideal as it combines both
nature and man made buildings, and also
fits in with my genre perfectly.
7. DOUBLE PAGE
SPREADThese are the images I will use on
my double page spread. I intend to
crop the boy on the bottom out of
his image and include him in that on
the top. I think that this will benefit
my magazine as it will show a three
piece band rather than a duo and
this is what rock bands normally
are, it is very unusual for you to see
a rock solo artist or a band including
only two members.
