2. Clothes- Model 1
This green and
black bomber jacket
will be worn by the
white male model.
The reason why I
chose this is
because these
types of jackets are
common amongst
R&B artists. It also
connotes a very
urban and
fashionable sense.
Also it is not a
designer brand,
which means it is
not as expensive,
therefore
resembling my
working class
audience.
This stylish and
trendy watch will
also be worn by the
white male and
resembles the
growing popularity
in R&B.
The cloud print t-shirt
here is also quite stylish
and trendy, which I have
not seen worn by any
R&B artists. However it
is very much their style
and if they have not worn
it then it makes my
magazine slightly
different. The t-shirt is
also not over priced
which sticks to my
working class audience.
These black Adidas track
suit bottoms blends in
with the jacket and t-shirt
nicely. However they are
not that important and
will not contribute to the
overall look because
they will not be seen; I
will be using a mid shot
which means that they
will barely be visible.
These will be the shoes that the white
model will be wearing but this is
irrelevant. They will not be seen at all
because I will be using a mid shot,
therefore cutting out most of the lower
half.
These sunglasses will be worn even
though the sun will not be out at all.
This therefore shows the personality
of the character who is wearing them;
he is very confident, fashionable and
cares about what he wears.
3. Clothes- Model 2
This snapback will be
worn in a different
photo. The dark
colours will link nicely
with the clothes he is
wearing and creates
that gangster, urban
atmosphere on the
character.
The model here will be wearing a black hooded jacket and aviator sunglasses. These pieces of clothing
combined also create a gangster, R&B styled effect. The black colours connote quite that the character is
quite menacing and in a photo with a background, would create a serious professional scene. The
sunglasses will also be worn by this model even though the weather will not be sunny. This connotes he
is a very confident and fashionable character.
Clothes- Model 3
This model will be wearing a blue North Face coat with black Adidas tracksuit bottoms. These clothes and
brands are very popular and fashionable amongst the youths of today, which will therefore contribute to
attracting my target audience.
4. These 2 photos were taken in a park near me. The image on the left shows very good graffiti
but is surrounded by background. If I were to use this image as my background then the parts
of the park would need to be cropped out. The graffiti on the right fills the page which means
nothing will need to be cropped out of the image. The graffiti contains a lot of vibrant colours
and almost an abstract effect which creates an overall interesting image to use for my front
cover background.
These 4 images were taken from a field in my area.
The last two photos are very detailed and good
pieces of graffiti. However they are too professional
and do not represent the streets of a typical
American ghetto. The first image is better for this
because it is all writing and not realistic images. The
reason why I took a photo of bricks are because
they can be used to mount my graffiti styled
masthead onto.
Locations
• The reason why I took these photos of graffiti are because I am planning to include it in my background
for my front cover. This is related to my ghetto, theme working class audience
The first 4 photos were taken in a park, with graffiti on the side of a metal container. These photos are all very interesting because of the variety of angles
and decay that has gradually eroded away at the graffiti. If I were to take a photo of these images again for my front cover background, it would be best to
use all of them due to the wide variety of angles and text.
5. Make-up
I will not be using make-up for either of the models because it is stereotypically seen as a very feminine
thing to do. This conflicts with my magazine because my target audience consists of males, so to include a
feminine quality would be confusing as it would make my target audience less obvious. However if I were to
be creating a magazine aimed at women this would be perfect to use.
