2. Resources
Pre-production is important for the smooth running of a project. It
is for you to go through final development and organisation for
your project before you start production.
The pre-production tasks you do will depend on your project. You
need to undertake appropriate tasks in order to make your project
work.
A production schedule should be in everyone’s project.
The blue slides are here to give advice. This advice can also be
found in the main lecture. Delete when you don’t need it. Don’t
submit your work with this in.

7. PRE-PRODUCTION
• Style sheet
– Collection of potential choice you could make for your products visuals
(colours, image styles and fonts). Provide some indication of which ones you
will use, where you will use them and reasons why
– This should explore alternatives to everything- don’t just include one
option. Look at several potential aspects to include and reference the ones
you plan to use and why
• Layout Plans
– Potential designs you could do for your product using images, fonts and
colours from style sheet
8. PRE-PRODUCTION Colour schemes:
This is important for
any visual product.
Talk about the options
you have, the
decisions you are
making and relate
your ideas back to
exiting products and
your target audience.
11. Pre-production
• What are you making? (explain what you have been asked to do)
• For my final project I will be making a streetwear clothing brand which will consist a variety
of clothing, advertising posters, a magazine front cover and also.
• Why? (What is the purpose of making your Film)
• I have chose to do this because I am very interested in clothing and the whole streetwear
style. I have also chose this as my final project because I will be able to show a variety of
skills with the multiple products I will be creating with in this project. I have also chosen
this as my project because its majority print based and I really enjoy print production and
also the photography side to some of the products I will be making means I can show of my
photography skills as well.
• Who is it for? (Audience)
• The audience my product will be for is middle class males from the age range 16-19. this is
my audience because I this age range will care more about streetwear than other ages.
With this it means ill get more interaction from the audience.
• Where will it appear/on what? (How will audience see it)
• My audience will see my product on social media with my social media advertisements and
short advert which will be on Instagram and Facebook , in a street wear magazine being
promoted on the front page and having a two page spread. I've chose social media as my
main platform to show my Instagram because people in my audiences age range use these
everyday.
Reflection:
13. F O N T S
- I may use this font because it is big and bold and very easy
to read. I also like the fact its quite simplistic and there's not to a lot going on and this
will look great with simplistic look of my magazine yet I could potentially make the
whole thing look boring because its to simplistic.
- Just like the first one this one is big and bold yet the letters
are closer together which means id have more space around the font which allows
more potential to make it look good. The bad thing about the letters being closer
together is that it will be a lot harder to read than the other one.
- Like the others the font this font it is big and bold but the
main thing I liked about this font is the fact that the letters and a mixture of sizes and
I like this because it give a modern and creative look to the font which I want to
replicate in my magazine. Also this font is very eye catching because its different
which will intrigue the audience yet the downfall is its not as easy to read.
- This is very different to the others its very rough and
dismantled I chose it because I'm making a street wear magazine and this font has a
very streetwear, urban and grungy look to it so it would match the theme of my
magazine yet it is very difficult to read and not intrigue a lot of a audience because of
that.

Idea 1 Idea 2 Idea 3
I've chose these colors because I like
that there soft/muted and pastel colors
I think would look very good on my
front cover. And there very positive
colors which replicates my magazine
because I want that to be positive.
Idea two is bold shades which would
stand out a lot while on the magazine
shelf and I think these would look urban
and grungy which then would match the
streetwear magazine style yet these are
very negative colors and I want my
magazine to be positive.
I've chose these colors because they are
the same colors than the first Colum yet
clear/ bright and not soft. I think these
colors would stand out and intrigue the
audience yet if I use them to much in the
front cover or the double page spared I
think it would look like a kids coloring book
so if I use these ill have to be careful on
how much I use.
15. I N S P I R A T I O N S
GRIND magazine is my first inspiration because I love the simplistic look
of this magazine and the bright yet soft colors they are using gives a
modern feel to the magazine. I also like the fact that the model is the
main image because I think it intrigues the audience more especially for a
fashion/streetwear magazine because if you see the model on the front
looking stylish and cool then it will make you more likely to go read that
fashion magazine to find out what and who the model is wearing.
Another thing that gives me inspiration from this magazine is the fact that
the articles are very small and in different size font, I like this because this
wouldn't’t happened in a normal magazine because it would normally
look unprofessional yet in this magazine they've made it look really good
and it adds to the modern look and makes it stand out over other
magazines in my opinion.
I get inspiration from /r/streetwear magazine, this is because when you
look at in you instantly know that it’s a streetwear magazine this is
because it looks very Indi and modern and sums up this side of
streetwear culture because of the simplistic nature of the front cover
like the other ,the main thing you see is the photo of the model also like
the other its got the small font underneath the title. Yet this magazine it
is very simplistic and with it so simplistic people may look at it and think
its boring or it might not intrigue much of an audience. The main this I
like about this magazine is the middle pages I think it has such a cool
look, with the same model photos print 3 times across the page with
there name as the main title.
20. F O N T S
I might use this font because it is big and bold
and with it being clear and easy to read this would be great for a logo font because it’s
what the font of your brand will be as known as. I also like the fact its quite cartoony this
matches' the brand I want to make as I don’t want it to be serious smart wear I want it to
be a wacky and fun brand.
I like this font because it gives an urban street
vibe and with it being squiggly it will also give the feel that the brand is not to serious and
give more of a casual feel to it. The font is also bold and looks hand drawn witch would
connect with the audience because its not flashy and there isn’t a lot going on, it looks
like they could of written this them selves.
This font is very bold and masculine with its
sharp edges which gives a strong look to my brand If I use it. yet would also make my brand
seem very serious and smart which isn’t the look I want my brand to have. The font is also
very easy to read which is good because it allows the audience to read and remember your
brand name.
This is very different to the others its very rough and
dismantled I chose it because I'm making a street wear magazine and this font has a very street
wear, urban and grungy look to it so it would match the theme of my magazine yet it is very
difficult to read and not intrigue a lot of a audience because of that.
21. C O L O U R S
I chose these soft muted colours because
it will make my logo eye catching. I
believe it will be eye-catching because
normally the brands logo is plain with a
dark tone and with using these colours
they would be for vibrant and more
intriguing to the audience. It also gives of
a positive feel to the logo.
I might use these dark tone colours because if use
these colours I think it will make my logo look more
professional and more urban. These dark shades and
colours also give of a street look which is good to use
for a street wear brand. The one bad thing about
using these colours would be it possibly give a boring
look to the logo with it being your standard shades
and wouldn’t stand out toward the rest colour wise.
22. I N S P I R A T I O N S
The palace logo is one of my inspiration because I like the way the
name of the brand has been repeated free time as shown in the photo
on the left. I like this because when the audience see the logo they
read the name 3 times which then makes the name more memorable.
I also like the way they have used the infinite triangle which the name
in implanted on. I like this because it stands out as it’s a unusual shape
to use on a logo because of the sharp edges, yet the infinite triangle
implies that they want the brand to be around forever and stay in style
for infinite time. I also like the fact that the font is bold and easy to
read and also that the triangle is bold and big so it stand out when you
see it on a piece of clothing.
I chose the carharrt logo because it is different to the palace one, this
is due them using a different style of font for the name of the brand
and a coloured logo which is separate from the name. The main thing I
like in the brownie gold coloured C as there main bit of the logo. This
is because the logo C is a cool different design which is also easy to
recognise, this then allows it to be put onto clothing pieces just by its
self without the name underneath because its recognisable. I like the
font they have use because it is different yet also strong and bold
which them symbolises the fact that carharrt is a work wear brand.
27. F O N T S
this font is strong a bold and with its
sharp edges it gives the font more of a masculine look and this is good to use on a poster
due to it being eye catching towards the audience. The down side to this font is the fact its
very boring and standard yet this would make the poster less eye-catching. This font is also
very easy to read which is good so the audience can read the poster a lot easier.
just like the one above this
font is strong and bold yet the letters are closer together then the one above which then
makes it hard to read , this would make it harder to intrigue the audience. Yet with the
letters closer together it makes it more creative because it gives more of a fun look to the
poster if I se this font because its less boring than the one above.
The font I will use for my logo I will also use the font I have
chosen to use for my logo. This is because it will keep on brand and be better for the
audience to recognise what brand the posters for. It will also reflect on the brand and it
being and looking more professional.
28. C O L O U R S
For my poster I might use these soft muted
colours because I think having a colourful
poster will make the audience notice it more
which then would increase sales. The
downside is if I over use these colours it might
look tacky or childish and not like a
professional clothing poster.
I might use nutual colours because I think it would
give a cool vibe to the poster and it would also
look professional. The downside with using these
colours is the fact that they aren't quite boring
which then would not intrigue the audience as
much as I would want with the poster which then
would decrease sales.
29. I N S P I R A T I O N S
This poster is one of my inspirations because it is a very cool
and different design for a poster because of the futuristic feel
to it and its very different to others I have seen. This inspires
me because it shows me I can make a poster which isn’t main
stream and the same as the classic clothing poster and it still
look good and get the appreciation for it. I like the way that
the background isn’t just the photo and there's a lot going on
not just the photo. I also like the fact the photo is repeated 4
times because I think this gives the poster a cool different
look.
This poster is another inspiration because this poster is very
different to the one above because its a lot more simplistic. I
like this because it have a street grungy street wear look
with the nono tone and the bold writing across the top and
this makes it look very retro yet modern as well. The photo
they have used it’s a very basic photo yet it works very well
because it matches the simplistic look of the poster. This is
also very street wear because its in a street and also it have
a grungy urban street look to it and this then attracts that
audience from that culture.
