2. The basic layout shows four
grids with writing in each. They
give the article neatness so the
reader doesn’t lose interest
The font and type size of the
main writing is larger and some
of the writing is out of shape to
the rest so it stands out.
The column widths are equal
so that the writing draws equal
amounts of attention. They are
positioned neatly alongside
each other.
The use of space on this
double page spread is good as
there is no blank spaces. This
means the reader doesn’t get
bored.
There are many bold colours
on this double page spread
which draws attention and ties
in a colour scheme.
The use of images show a
street scene with graffiti, beer
bottles and a boombox.
The image and text are integrated by having larger
text to suggest that they are anchored together. Also
the street style of “tags” goes with the idea of
graffiti. It is an article about Dizzee Rascal, and the
main image Is of him, therefore they link together.
The main image is of Dizzee
Rascal, a famous rap artist. If
the reader is a fan they will be
drawn to the magazine by his
presence on it.
The language used e.g “tags to
riches” suggests Dizzee Rascal
went from being poor to rich
and the article is about his
growth in wealth as he has
become famous.
The design shows the
background with a street style.
Linking to the hip hop genre of
the magazine.
The overall impression I get
from this magazine is the idea
the reader gets from the
magazine. For me, this is a hip
hop/street style impression.
The drop cap indicates the first
letter of the article to the
reader this draws the readers
attention to see the rest of the
word.
The mode of address is how the reader is targeted. I
wouldn’t say that the reader is directly addressed as
1) The person in the main image is not looking at the
camera and 2) The main subheading doesn’t address
the audience with pronouns like “you”
