3. • Front Cover differences
Different Target
Audiences – My
magazine is aimed at
students whereas Men’s
Health is aimed at men
in general.
Main Image – My image
is of a student which is
relatable whereas the
Men’s Health is of a
famous actor that many
men aspire to be like.
Use of Colour – My
colour scheme has
brighter colours to suit
the age of readers and
attract them whereas the
Men’s Health colour
scheme is a lot more
sophisticated for their
age group.
Camera Shots – My image is a Cover Lines – Mine suit the target
medium close up to make the model audience as they feature things they
seem friendly whereas the other will be interested in. The other
image is a mid shot which shows the magazine does the same thing but
model’s build. targeting a different audience.
4. In what ways does your media product use, develop
or challenge forms and conventions of real media
products?
• Contents
5. • Differences with contents
Captions – My images have
captions relating to the
particular feature in the
magazine whereas the Men’s
Health one just has them next
to the page number.
Sell line – My
contents page
doesn’t have one
of these to help
sell the magazine
to readers
whereas the
other magazine
contents page
does. This is a
good feature to
have as it makes
the magazine
more appealing. Images – My images are fairly
random and don’t exactly
match the caption whereas
Layout – My contents page pushes the normal
Men’s Health’s images are
conventions of this type of page as the main text is on
suitable and fit the purpose
the right hand side of the page whereas Men’s Health’s
they’re supposed to.
text is spaced out over 2 pages which makes it easier to
read and there’s a lot more space for information.
6. What have you learnt about the technologies from the
process of constructing this product?
I used Moodle to get resources and I used Adobe InDesign to create my
examples for inspiration for my magazine. contents page and put my cover with it.
I used a digital camera to take my images.
I also used this to learn about different
shot types and angles.
I used Photoshop to manipulate
images and create my front cover
page.
7. I used a digital camera to guarantee that I got a MCU. I also
made sure there was space at the top for a masthead or at
least nothing important that a masthead would cover. I
could’ve manipulated the image more to make it not as
bright. I told the model to look friendly and happy.
I then used Photoshop to make the
regular image into a presentable
magazine cover.
The ways I used Adobe Photoshop to manipulate my images:
I used the Place tool in the toolbar to place the image to
use as my background. I then cropped it and moved it
around to the perfect spot for my background.
I used the text tool to insert my masthead. I then used the
toolbar to try different types of font, text sizes and
colours.
I used the ellipse tool to make the circle shape for my
offer. I then resized it and coloured it. I used a contrasting
colour to make it stand out and attract the reader.
8. Using InDesign to make my contents page
For the contents page I kept the colour I think I could’ve used different images as they
scheme the same as my front cover so it all look similar. I could’ve also manipulated the
looked consistent. images to make them look better. Some of the
images didn’t fit on the page so I had to resize
them or crop them which didn’t give the
images the same effect I intended.
I could’ve used different shapes as my layout is
really boring which does really suit the age
group it is aimed at
With the text I varied the colours to make it
different however they are all very similar which
makes it constant. I used the text to also label and
caption the pictures.
I exported my images as jpegs so that I can use it
to upload onto my blog.
I used the rectangle frame tool to place my front
cover onto the first page.
I used the text tool to put in the information on
my contents page.
