1. B Y A S I A T H O M A S J E N N I N G S
MY UNDERSTANDING OF
TECHNOLOGY
2. MY PRIOR UNDERSTANDING
Starting this media course with no prior experience
with the subject left me at a slight disadvantage in
comparison to some of my peers who did the GCSE.
In the beginning, I had no experience with filming or
understanding of how to use a DSLR, tripod or have
any clue of what a dolly was.
3. WHAT I HAVE GAINED
Not only have I gained a wealth of experience and
hands on practice using hardware and filming
equipment, I have also had the pleasure of acquainting
myself with new editing software that I had not
previously used before. Premier Pro and Photoshop were
used as tools to edit our film opening and I feel like
gaining knowledge about the hardware and software
made it much easier for me to see clearly how they both
worked together and gave me an incite as to how one
can affect another.
4. EXAMPLES
It was easy for me to see when both hard and software were working together
and influencing each other when some of our shots were filmed without a tripod
and seemed rather shaky, yet we were able to stabilise these shots in after
effect, after the filming had already been done.
Also, there were some discrepancies with the lighting when some of the original
shot were filmed and it was important that they were rectified. This also
happened during the editing process of the film opening using effects in premier
pro that directed light into a certain area of the screen.
