The document discusses what the author learned about technologies from constructing a film product. Specifically:
- New digital cameras, Macs, and Final Cut Pro allowed the author to create a high quality film that could be easily edited.
- Lighting technologies ensured characters were visible during filming in the rain, and stabilization features helped combat shaky footage.
- The internet and Final Cut Pro enabled importing high quality music.
- Social media allowed receiving feedback to improve the film and spread a survey.
- However, technology also hindered the work at times through internet/computer issues and a camera deleting footage, requiring refilming.

Learning About Filmmaking Technologies
1. Evaluation
Q6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
The role new media played in my production was huge as without newer digital cameras
I would have not been able to make/edit a film anywhere near the quality of my finished
product. The use of Macs and Final Cut Pro was a massive part of my film making and
due to the ease of use and range of great features on these programs/devices I was able
to make a product of overall good quality. The lighting technologies available to me
allowed me to make sure my characters were viable at all times and due to the rain that
I chose to film in my camera remained fairly shaky throughout but the stabilizing feature
on final cut pro allowed me to easily combat this problem quickly and effectively. The
music I used for my film I found on the Internet and I used helpful features from web
browsers as well as Final Cut Pro to import this music into my film, and without the
music at the quality that it was my film would be significantly worse than it is as a final
product. The use of social media also allowed me to display my film and the various
edits of my film to my audience which allowed me to quickly gain feedback on how to
improve my film and I also used social media to spread my survey from surveymonkey.
Social media also helped me to reflect on my finished product thanks to feedback via
social media.
Technology did at several points however hinder my work greatly. There were times
when I would attempt to upload an edit before a deadline an due to internet or
computer issues I would be in a rush to upload it because of either how slow it was
being or due to issues with the computer crashing. My camera at one point had not
saved/deleted all of my shots from one day that I wanted to upload so I had to go out
and re-film all of my shots from that day, forcing me to get all of my actors out again,
make sure they were all dressed as they were before and wait for it to begin raining
again as it was on the first day of filming.
My planning stage was also greatly helped by technology as I was easily able to watch
the openings of many films for my analysis' with the help of sites like LOVEFILM. My
2. Surveys and other planning stages were also produced and shared with ease thanks to
the technology available to me.
