Q6
1. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT
ABOUT TECHNOLOGIES FROM
THE PROCESS OF
CONSTRUCTING THIS
PRODUCT?
2. FINAL CUT PRO
We used Final Cut Pro for the editing of our construction. However to be able to use
the programme, we had to learn all abut it as none of our group had used it before…
at first we found it hard to upload our filming onto the programme as the defeating
‘error’ message was showing up a lot. Fortunately, after many Youtube tutorials, we
managed to get to grips with the software and we feel we produced a really good piece.
The importance of this to our piece is paramount and allowed us to achieve extremerly
effective shots.
3. THE INTERNET
The 21st century bread and butter to anyone doing research; the internet was one of
the most important tools we had to find, create and share our construction. For
example; we ran to the video sharing network YouTube to research existing media and
to find codes and conventions to adhere to. We also used it to find tutorials to
understand other technologies we were using.
We used the internet on our mobiles to create a focus group on the social network
Facebook to communicate and research what our target audience would like to see.
To find and download the music for our piece, from downloading them, we were able to
quickly transfer the music onto Final Cut Pro.
4. CAMERA
For our final construction we used two different cameras; the Cannon D600 with a
Tamron Lens which was used for the majority of the shots as our piece didn’t involve a
lot of movement so we didn’t need a faster lens. A lot of trial and error was used to
discover the best shots as well as tutorials on the internet.
The other camera we used was the Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ8EB-K as our piece had
a few extreme close-up shots. We attempted the extreme close-ups with the Tamron
Lens first however the quality didn’t feel good enough so we changed to the Lumix.
5. MOBILE PHONES
One of the most important types of convergent technology for the research and
planning in our construction (and for teenagers in general) is mobile phones.
We created our focus group on a mobile phone and used the mobile whilst filming to
send tester shots to the group to get feedback from them. We also had a chance to look
up existing media from places such as YouTube to find codes and conventions to follow
or develop.
The most useful thing about the mobile phones is the fact the members of our group
could contact each other at anytime to discuss ideas and tutorials we found, etc…
