2. FILMING
• From start to finish in this project I was hoping that I would push myself and my peers
in the group to do something that we were all proud of and I think that I have
achieved this because I haven’t really used a camera or a high skilled editing software
before excusing the time when I used it briefly in the lower school. But apart from this I
did not know how much detail that a camera could get in the video just with the shots
and how you present it. When filming the preliminary video I had no previous
experience with camera angles and in the preliminary video I felt like I was only
practicing my first time skills, But continuing onto the horror opening as a group we
put all of out skills together to improve the whole look of the video. And also by now
we had learnt many other angles and how to control the camera and by having a
group that has these skills it means that the video looks more effective because we
were all concentrating on a certain area . I do however feel like I would like more
practice with a camera as I was not present for much of the filming process. I have also
learnt that both the camera angles and editing need to come together and work, to
keep the audience engaged for example using fast paced scene will add tension and
keep the audience engaged if the shot was too slow I would loose interest and start to
find that the opening was boring.
3. EDITING
• I also now understand the editing software much more as I have been using it for
much of my time at college and I have explored the different things that it can do, that
a camera could do but not as well as editing software could probably pick things out.
A few things I have developed over the time of the project is that I have now learnt
how to use the scene line properly when putting both sounds and simple clips
together, but I am still learning the timeline as it seems more complex for me to learn.
I am also more skilled in getting audio into the clips, in the preliminary video I was not
editing very much and I was also mainly concentrating on the camera shots and we
also did not include any nondiegetic sounds as they were all in the actual video
footage as I was mostly the one at the end of the editing that put the final touches
such as sound effects and screaming audio, where as before I did not know how to
insert sounds effectively into a video to improve the whole thing and make it more
effective by making it fit into the situation.
