Day 3
A: Analyze the Learners
This is a class of twenty high school seniors. Twelve of them are Caucasian, and eight of them
are African American. None of them have learning or physical disabilities. Three of them have
ADHD.
S: State Objectives
This is the first day of a two part study of Othello. Othello is the play I chose to focus on during
my unit plan because I think it has a lot of merit and is usually skipped over in academic settings.
We will be doing a read through of the play and watching YouTube videos of performances on
stage. I will also be using the poster I made for my unit plan that has characters’ names, themes,
etc. in order to help clear up any confusion. After this is completed, I would like for students to
have an 80% understanding of Othello.
S: Select the 3 M’s (Method, Media, Materials)
I will prepare to read through the play, along with getting my poster and videos ready. The media
will be the posters as well as the videos. We will need copies of the text and a computer.
U: Utilize Media and Materials
2. The students will be receiving the benefit of the media and materials. They will get to read
through and study the text and watch the videos. I would prepare the materials and ideas, then
teach it. The students listen, participate, and learn.
R: Require Learner Participation
Students will participate by reading aloud and watching the videos I show them.
E: Evaluate and Revise
My evaluation for this lesson will be based on the Webquest they complete on day 4.
