The Helping Hands & Leading Ladies
 Vice Presidents
 First Ladies
A-Analyze Learners
o The age range of students in my class is 10-11.
o 12 students are female; the other 8 students are male.
o The students are in 5th
grade.
o 2 students in my class have ADHD.
S-State Objectives
o The students will learn about some of the best helping hands and leading ladies that were ever
in the White House. The students will visit a website containing the best/worst Vice Presidents
of all times. We will also go over which Vice President was also President and how this
happened. The students will do their own research on a Vice President of their choice and then
they will “like” my Facebook page and write on my wall about them. The students will all
respond to at least 3 other student’s work. The students will also learn about some of the First
Ladies at the same time. They will view a poster of the First Ladies and then respond to my post
about the best first ladies agreeing or disagreeing with it. The students will be able to provide
knowledgeable information on a Vice President and First Lady with 85% accuracy.
S-Select Methods, Media, & Materials
o The students will be presented with a link containing the best/worse Vice Presidents. They will
also gain better understanding of some of the First Ladies by reading the article I shared with
them on Facebook. After gaining knowledge on both the Vice Presidents and First Ladies the
students will write a paragraph on each. Then, the students will respond to 3 other student’s
post on the Vice President they researched.
U-Utilize Media & Materials
o The students will obtain knowledge about the Vice Presidents and First Ladies. They will first
like my Facebook page. Then they will read the article I posted about Vice Presidents. Next they
will write a post on my wall about the Vice President they researched and respond to three
other student’s posts. Lastly they will read the article I post about First Ladies and respond to it
either agreeing or disagreeing about who the “Best First Lady of All Time” is.
R-Require Learner Participation
o The students will be required to respond to one link I post. They will also be required to post on
my wall about the Vice President of their choice they researched. They will demonstrate their
knowledge by posting and responding to other students’ posts.
E-Evaluate & Revise
o The students will be presented with the link to my Facebook page they are required to like.
They will also be presented with two links to respond to that will help them understand both the
helping hand and leading ladies.
