Working Title:
Hip hop dance!
Audience:
My audience are people who are into energetic dance video games. The age range of my
audience is around 10-15 year olds of both genders. For my video game to appeal to its audience
it needs to immersive, by having bright bold colours/visuals and background music to match. I also
want the controls to be easy to understand and told to the player either by a tutorial or by written
instructions. Everything should tie together, from the colour scheme to the font.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Through the year have developed skills in a lot of areas through different projects. Some of these
skills will help me to create this video game, such as audio’s learnt how to use audition when i
made my audio story, and since it was a scary story I learnt how to edit the sounds to create a
scary atmosphere. This will come in handy when making the background music for my video
game. When I made my music video, I learnt how to do simple animations on videos, having prior
experience in this will help the process of animating my game easier.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept for this project is a dance game. I will make it using Photoshop and animate it frame
by frame. The way the game work is that the player needs to match the arrows shown on the
screen to make the character dance. When they will earn points. When they don’t press the right
key their point’s wont chance. When they reach a certain amount of points they will hear cheering
(every1000 point). The player can choose if they want to play in dance practice mode or dance
battle mode. I think having these two options gives the game a bit more variety
To make this project I need to look into games that have the same look and similar concept to my
game. By analysing these games I will be able to see what does and doesn’t work and apply it to
my game. Things I will need to analyse are colour schemes, animation, sounds and layout.
Making sketch of each layout (menu, selection and game play) will help the animation process go
smoother. The mood board I made in my initial plan will also help me out with style and aesthetic.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I will evaluate my finished product by first comparing it to different games that are similar to mine
and see how they compare. I also want to evaluate my research and time management skills.
Having someone else view my finish product will also help me to accurately evaluate my work
since they might see things that I didn’t. At the end when I’ve collected all my feedback ill write up
a conclusion, this will help me to improve future work
