3. Fanzine
My fanzine idea is to do with gardening. Upon thinking about this idea further I realised it would be better to
base my fanzine on the cottage core aesthetic rather then just herbology and gardening. This will mean i can
have a range of content from gardening to crafts and tutorials.
I also want to include some interaction element such as pages that fold out. I want my fanzine to inspire
people to get more connected with nature and adventure and including interactive pages ties in with that
idea as its something that can look unique and interesting.

5. Analysis: Aesthetic/ Inspiration
I common factor I have found in this mood board is the amount of nature and flowers. Because my
zine is all about botanical/ herbology it would make sense to include things of that nature. By having
these pictures it gives the mood board a fresh and bright tone.
Some warm colours are also included, which suggest adventure, autumn and the woods. Because
they are warm colours they also make you feel warm and cosy, which is the feel I want to have in
some parts of my zine. It makes me personally think of fairytales and being in the woods in autumn.
Because there is a mixture of different aesthetics in the mood board i think it will influence my zine
to experiment with different themes because although different they mesh together well in the end.

7. Analysis: Page Layout
the journal type style is repeated a lot in this mood board. The style links with nature as its
doesn't look digitally done. Handmade makes it look a lot more adventurous and creative, and
that how I want my zine to look.
I think looking back at this mood board whilst making the product will help me a lot as
sometimes it can be really easy to get on the wrong tracks and end up coming out with a
product that look confusing and messy. By looking at this bard i know what I'm aiming for. This
isn't to say I shouldn't experiment, I totally should, but I should also remember the tone and feel
I'm aiming for.

9. Analysis Page Layout (Interactive)
I want to include some interactive sections through my zine’s here and there, this mood
board is to give me inspiration and help me to generate ideas.
One thing that is repeated is the folding out pages. I quite like this idea as it reminds me of
folding out a map which is associated with adventure, which I and my audience would find
exciting. I could draw illustrations for this.
There is also a picture of a girl crying, and the tears are threads dangling off the page which
I quite like the look off. I could do something similar using this method, instead use a
watering can.

11. Analysis front cover
Overall my mood board for front covers is quite vintage looking with a mix of warm and bright tones. I
imagine the type of audience that would read this magazine would most likely enjoy reading outside and
so I want the front cover to match that setting (nature, adventure, woodlands).
There is a mix of simpler and intricate designs, and I think both would work really well. However I think he
simpler designs give off a more text book/school book kind of tone which is the opposite of what I am
going for. Below are some of my favorite designs.
I love this mood of this cover, it suggests adventure and nature, which is what I am going for
12. Content outline:
1. Introduction and overview
2. Herbology
3. How to use herbs(growing, drying)
4. Recipes
5. Foraging (things you can and cant eat?)
6. health
7. How to make faux cake
8. Aesthetic photography tutorial
(1-4) section of content is all about nature. It will go over
types of herbs, their benefits and best time to grow
them. Forging will go over how/where to find plants to
eat followed by recipes people can try out at this time of
year. There will be hand drawing of the herbs and
pictures for the recipes. It wont be too wordy
the next section are tutorial based.
13. Content:
My fanzine genre is inspired by the cottage core aesthetic. Nature is a big aspect of
this magazine.
There are many types of people I feel would enjoy this magazine. From people who
are looking to spend a little less time on social media, people dealing with mental
health issues, people who also like the cottage core aesthetic and even people who
are already into nature and such.
This zine will cover a few different types of content as listed in the slide before. They
all fit in with each other. My zine has 3 different types of content. Nature, health and
DIY’s.
Being active is good for everyone, people who are trying to better themselves or
trying to live in a ore positive way then they are doing may find this sort of content
useful.
14. Planning:
What I need for each section:
Introduction and overview: Wheel(title and description)
Herbology: Drawings. Mostly short descriptions
How to use herbs(growing, drying): More writing here, need to research into this subject.

Health: A mix of articles and ideas to better your life. Information shown visually(drawings/pictures)

Planning will vary depending on if you are doing a web series, podcast or a fanzine.
Web-series: A script, storyboard, organisational docs and clearance forms for your contributors/sources.
Fanzine: Content outline, visual style, pagination, organisational documents.
Podcast: Script, organisational docs, clearance forms for your contributors/sources.
Finally work out a production schedule for the project. Once you have a final proposal, begin to plan how you intend to realise your project and what you will need to create/collect.
