 In today’s society, social media plays such a huge part of most people’s everyday
lives. It allows us to communicate with each other and our audience so much
easier and faster than ever before. For businesses, marketing through social media
is the most effective tool of spreading a message and promoting because they can
guarantee that a large population will come across their ideas because of the
subconscious use of social media in everyday life.
BENEFITS OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN TERMS OF MARKETING:
 Large portion of younger generation and middle aged people, are major
percentage of the total social media user population.
 Social media opens possibilities of direct access to clients without any third party
intervention.
 Advertising through social media is pretty cost friendly as compared to costs
incurred by print, TV or other traditional media.
 Social media also helps in search engine and increase in ratings of any company
websites.
WHY IS SOCIAL MEDIA SO IMPACTFUL?
SOCIAL MEDIA AND MY TARGET AUDIENCE
 16-30 year olds is the age range that predominantly use social media the most
so it is important to analyse which social media sight are most popular with my
target audience in order to know how I can market my magazine effectively.
 Facebook is the most popular social media sight with over 1,590 million active users.
This means that creating a Facebook page for my magazine and consistently posting
current affairs and features snippets of articles in upcoming issues to entice the
readers into buying the next issue.
 Instagram is also very popular amongst this age range with 400 million users being
active on this social media and the use of hashtags within Instagram is an effective
tool of spreading messages and gaining popularity to get noticed.
3 types of advertisement Instagram lets you use:
 Photo Ads: These look like regular photo posts, but they have a Sponsored label
above the photo. They also have a Learn More button on the bottom right corner,
under the photo.
 Video Ads: Like the photo ads, these look like regular video posts, but with a
Sponsored label on top.
 Carousel Ads: These ads look identical to photo ads, but feature multiple photos
that users can swipe through.
HOW THIS IS USEFUL FOR MY MAGAZINE…
 Knowing that my target audience are the most active users in terms social
media, this has to be a massive aspect of my magazine in regards to
promoting articles, global news and regular features.
 I plan to include social media icons at the bottom of each page such as
Facebook, Instagram and Twitter as I found these to be the most used sights
by my target audience. This will enable readers follow the institution on
social media and keep up to date with all things relevant and about the
magazine wherever they are from the easy access of their phones. This allows
them to have the magazine’s content in the palm of their hands and keep the
magazine a part of their everyday routine whether that’s during their
relaxation time or on the long morning train journeys.
 Our twitter will be keeping up with all global news, celebrity gossip and music
events within the RnB industry daily and our Instagram will capture the
unseen images relating to our monthly content as well as what's to come.
MAGAZINE WEBSITE
 As well as enticing our readers through easy and accessible social media. I
plan to promote my magazine through the use of an official website that
places all of the magazine’s contents in digital form to gain large popularity
and widen the target audience.
 The website will feature a gallery for the fashion and lifestyle and most
importantly have small clips for the hottest songs of the week where
followers can access the latest music before finding it on Spotify.
 The website will be more frequently than the release of the paper copy of the
magazine as a way of keeping the readers involved in the latest news in the
music industry during the month before we publish the magazine.
 The link for my magazine website will feature frequently on the paper copy
including on the front cover to make my audience aware of all the ways they
can access the content.
