2. WHY I CHOSE THIS ARTIST
I chose this specific person to my artist in the magazine because of
the way he effectively represented the ethnic profiling of my RnB
genre. Being of Caribbean origin, my model fitted the dominant
ethnicity of my target audience which helps for my readers to
relate more and allows the magazine to focus on the music as well
as personal matters that directly relate to them.

3. COSTUME
I told my model to wear formal attire, preferably a black suit.
The purpose behind this was to emphasise the formality,
sophisticated and slick image I wanted to create to establish
quite a serious tone for this specific issue. This allows the
audience to know that the topics being discussed within the
article will be serious issues and personal matters.
The formal black attire also helped the image stand out against
a lighter background which is what how I planned my double
page spread to look as well as representing the artist himself
as serious about his music. It further reflects how my magazine
wants to portray their artists giving them a level of respect and
glorifying them.

4. USE OF PROPS
For my double page spread image, I used a shot with my
artist sitting on an extravagant chair. The use of this chair is
to symbolise a throne relating to the theme of my article. My
title says ‘KING OF THE JUNGLE’. This immediately gives my
artists greater status and creates this royal, glorified
perception of them. The colour of the chair contrasts from
the black attire the artist is wearing and also matches the
black and yellow colour theme of my double page spread.
It allows the centric focus to be of the artist and nothing
else.

5. WHY THE SHOT IS EFFECTIVE
This is the shot I used for my double [age spread. I chose this image out
of all the shots I took because of its relevance to the article. The throne,
again, glorifies the artist and presents him as superior and emphasises
the artist’s importance and significance within the music industry.
The direct address allows him to personally connect with his fans and
gives the audience a sense of significance as well as feeling as if they
can relate to what he is talking about. The article discusses world affairs
and injustice matters that affect the audience therefore direct address
implies that the artists cares about those around him and wants to use
his higher power and status to help people. It creates a sense of empathy
especially when discussing how these issues have personally affected
him.
The serious facial expression helps to further convey this and suggests
that these matters are serious and the artist is now taking his life more
seriously and regaining focus on priorities such as music and family.
