1. Lucia Puricelli What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? IPC Ignite is a media company that distributes media products all over the world. It is a company that owns 20% of the world’s media so would be very influential on any magazine or product it manages. It mainly promotes through advertising and providing websites and subscription for its products. There are a lot of world famous magazines linked with IPC Ignite media which include the music magazine NME. NME has its own website you can subscribe though calling or signing up through the internet. Having a website usually means that there is more to offer than just reading the magazine which may include online competitions, online subscription and digital issues of the magazine. NME also has its own music channel which would help promote the magazine and ranges the amount of ways the audience can hear about the magazine. IPC Ignite would own all of this and could manage the production and sales of the product. This might be the kind of institution that distributes my magazine since it is dealing with the same genre of music as my magazine so would reach the audience who are likely to buy it. I have included a subscription in my magazine which is common in the products IPC Ignite publish. Along with this I have also included a website address so people can subscribe on there to as well as calling the magazine company itself. I believe that this would help the sales of my product since there is more ways people can get access to it and it can reach a wider audience. IPC ignite are a very big company that owns a large percentage of the worlds media so there wouldn’t be as much competition from other media companies. However, there may be competition from other magazines so this is another reason why I have included subscription and websites so my magazine is well advertised in the shops and on the internet. The sales of magazines are usually through newsagents or shops that specialise in stationary and books, for example WHSmiths or a supermarket like Sainsbury’s. Magazines are usually stored in the same area so they would be made to stand out to catch the reader’s eye before the rest do. There are also online stores that sell magazines, for example a shop’s website may include the sales of magazines or the magazine website would usually sell them. To make the magazine stand out from the rest the brand of the magazine would try to include certain aspects that are similar to the magazine. For example the title would be the same on every issue to help brand the product to keep a familiarity with the audience. The colours used may also be similar in every issue, all this would help the magazine stand out. I have included a colour scheme and a title that I would use in every issue of my magazine if I was to create more. I have tried to make it different from other magazines so the reader would be drawn to it because it is something new. Here is my magazine and another magazine that I included in my research which is owned by a company like IPC Ignite. Both magazines use similar methods in the layout of the page which helps to attract attention and to advertise and promote their product. 20053305174615The picture on the cover is of the band featured and both pictures on each magazine overlaps the title which makes the picture stand out even more. There isn’t many sub-titles on the front of either magazine, only in one corner of the cover. This would put even more attention onto the picture and titles. Both magazines include a barcode on the front of the magazine which also has the price and magazine website next to it.Both magazines include a banner across the top saying that the magazine includes a free poster. Both magazines include a big title that is both bold and stands out. It stretches across the top of the page instead of keeping it in one corner. The name of the bands that are featured are written in bold writing and are at an angle. There is a banner across the bottom for a ‘plus’ section. This includes other bands/solo artists that are also interviewed in the magazine.20053301683385
