Why IPC Media is best for distributing DEZAE magazine
1. AS Media Evaluation
Q3: What kind of media institution might distribute your media product
and why?
2. BAUER Media Group
Bauer Media Group is a company based in
Europe. Their headquarters are in Germany.
They manage more than 600 magazines, over
400 digital products and 50 radio and TV
stations internationally. Distribution includes
print shops, and postal.
The magazines which they provide us with are:
• Mojo
• Q
• Kerrang
The conventional social demographic would be
males as evidently analysed by the front
covers.
International Publishing Company
International publishing company is a
consumer magazine and digital publisher in
the UK, with a large portfolio selling over 350
million copies every year.
The magazines they provide us with are:
• Photographer
• Marie Claire
• NME
There is no conventional social demographic
for IPC as their magazines would attract both
males and females according to their
interests as well as the content of the
magazine.
3. DEZAE magazine
The institution which I would like to distribute my
magazine to would preferably be IPC Media. The
reason for this being is because I think there are many
similarities which are positive for the promotion of the
company as well as my magazine. IPC Media currently
distributes multiples of genres including hip-hop
which is the genre of my magazine. This would
enhance the promotion of it as it would perform
better. Their digital distribution would assure to
appeal to a mass market audience instead of a niche,
therefore allowing my product to succeed as a popular
name as they are experienced in my particular genre.
Finally, as IPC does not follow a specific social
demographic my product would sell well as the target
audience is both males and females.
4. I chose IPC Media because they are one of the largest media institutions
meaning that they have experience within my genre, which would allow my
media product to be successful. Through the distribution of IPC, their
promotion would issue my product to a mass audience which would capture as
many consumers as possible. Through this success it could lead to my media
magazine extending and being part of radio shows, advertisements and other
types of synergy. Although the institution would ideally process my magazine, I
would like it to be a sister publication to other magazines instead of a opposing
magazine as there is a likelihood that it would disfavour my target audience and
this would decrease the success off my product as it would not sell.
Dezae would be a monthly magazine issue priced at £2.50. The price of my
magazine is similar to all the monthly issues. The reason for choosing my
magazine to be a monthly issue is because weekly magazines do not provide us
with detailed content whereas monthly issues have been around longer
therefore would have more to provide the readers with, this would lead to my
product attaining more readers.
5. As well as the promotion which IPC provides me with, I am also able to
access promotion for my media product through the distribution of social
media sites like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook. Twitter is useful as trends and
hashtags could be viewed and searched for internationally as well as locally.
Facebook fan pages could be made and common likes would advertise these
pages to friends on your Facebook. Via Instagram, accounts with similar
content to mine may want to advertise it through images or even videos.
Online promotion from one site to another is very useful as it is easy as well
as quick. Another way is through posters, leaflets, and newspapers, this way
everyone is able to have access even those who don’t have internet or social
media accounts, most likely the older target audience.
