2. It is used for producing plants easily.
It doesn’t involve sex cells in order
to produce.
No seeds needed.
Parts of the plants are used for
reproducing offspring.

4. CUTTING
• Process where a stem, leaf, or root
cutting is taken from the plant.
• This cutting is then planted into
suitable soil or is secured into a
moist medium.
• The planted part develops its own
roots.
• Example: fortune plants and
santan, rose,
5. GRAFTING
• Technique used widely by fruit and
rose growers.
• A V-shaped cut is made into the stem
of a healthy plant that is called stock.
• The stem of another plant if the same
type called the scion is then trimmed
and fitted into the cut.
• The grafted part is then bound by a
cloth
• After sometime, the two stems become
one.
• Avocado producers use the grafting
technique to grow more trees.
6. USE OF STORAGE ORGANS
• Storage organs are those parts rich
in nutrients.
• These storage organs can be drawn
into new plant.
Example: ginger rhizomes, potato
tubers, onion bulbs, and taro or
corms.
• Potato tuber or underground stem
and is propagated using its “eyes”.
• Plants grow through those “eyes”
when a potato is planted
underground.
7.
8. STOLON OR RUNNER
• Stolons or runners are special stem
that spread over the ground like
strawberry plant.
• On the surface of the stems, buds
grow and develop into new plants.
• Another example is hydrilla but live in
aquatic habitats unlike strawberry.
• Ex; sweet potato, mint, Bermuda
9. LAYERING
• A technique of plant propagation that
allows stems to grow roots while they
are still attached to the parent plant.
• A target portion is wounded or a
piece of bark is removed and then
covered with a medium that retains
moisture, such as moss.
• After some time, the root detaches
and grows into an independent plant.
• Example of plant that is applied with
this technique and this is lychee.
