This proposal is for a magazine called "Next Episode" that will focus on television shows and movies, both upcoming and past, for an audience of TV and film enthusiasts ages 16-30. The concept is to provide deeper discussion of what makes shows successful, compare shows in different genres, and recommend streaming services. It will also offer advice on story writing and filmmaking techniques. Evaluation of the magazine will be ongoing with a final self-reflection. The schedule outlines weeks for initial response, pre-production like research and proposal, filming/editing, post-production, and screening.

Working Title:
Next Episode
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience:
My audience is TV and Film enthusiasts who’re interested in the latest upcoming shows, but are
also interested in the industry as a whole. The age of my target audience is 16 – 30, and the
gender would typically Male, however, anyone of any age or gender can enjoy my product.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use
the Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation
to content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product
appeal to the gender? Etc.)
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Skills I have acquired is the ability to use Adobe InDesign which I hadn’t used before creating the
mock magazine I created. I learnt how to use placeholders and insert photos into them. I also
learnt more about using Photoshop when I was creating my front cover, such as how to remove
the background from and image and leave only the person. I will use this for my magazine as it will
help me apply the common convention of having a figure on the front cover of magazines, which I
will continue for my product.
Review your progress throughout the year- what skills and knowledge have you acquired?
How has the subjects you have studied this year informed your choice for this project?
What have you studied and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
My concept is a magazine which talks about TV shows and movies, with the main focus being TV
shows, and featuring both the latest, and older shows/films, to take a deeper look into what makes
the shows successful and entertaining, and how they compare to other shows in their genre.
The magazine would also mention and discuss cloud streaming services and will tell the readers
where they can watch the shows in the articles, and where is best to watch them. It will also have
articles such as the best service to subscribe to based on a reader’s interests.
Another section of the magazine will talk about story writing techniques and ways to improve your
TV writing. It will talk about camera angles, directing techniques, and editing software and skills, in
order to help the reader to become a better film maker.
In my magazine, it would also review upcoming shows and movies, evaluating if they are worth
watching, and why.
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation and your
final self-reflection, analysing your work and its outcomes.
