1. AS Media Studies Coursework
MS2: Production Processes
Your coursework is marked out of 100 marks and is worth 50% of your final grade
therefore it will require a lot of work.
It is essential that you meet all deadlines and submit all required drafts. Drafts allow for
me to give you feedback and support. Drafting your work and utilising my comments will
undoubtedly improve your grade.
You will submit three linked pieces of work. These will comprise;
• Pre-production (20%) reflecting research and demonstrating planning
techniques.
• A production (40%) piece which has developed out of the pre-production.
• A report (40%) of between 1200-1600 words.
You are required to demonstrate:
• Your ability to research and plan for a media production.
• Your ability to produce a technically competent media production
• Your ability to evaluate your own production work.
All pre-production and reports are completed individually. The production piece may be
completed in a small group (max 4) only for video work.

Notes for Guidance
A note about group work.
• Maximum group size is 4 people.
• You must have a clearly definable role and have made a significant contribution to
the finished piece. The individual and their contribution is marked not the final
product.
• Within the group each student must be responsible for elements of the
production process. You must negotiate your role with me first.
• The roles you might choose from are:
- Camera operator
- Editing & effects
- Lighting & Sound
Please note that acting within the video is not a role nor is Director/Producer!
