Audience:
My audience for this project is males and females who enjoy films and tv shows. They will fall under
the category age of 16-28 year olds. This is because the magazine and website style will be suited
so that people can share the articles on there social media, which will be easily widened by this age
group. Also, the younger generation preferably prefer films which makes them a simple and easy
target for this magazine and website. I will be including different social media links on my website
which is predominately used by 16-28 year olds. I feel like my magazine will appeal to males more
due to the majority of films being big brands such as marvel. Statically, this is a masculine genre.
However, females enjoy marvel too so i am not stereotypically going to create my design to one
gender. This will mean my magazine, double page spread and website will be uni sex. This will
again help widen my target audience appeal.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
My progress over the year has improved a lot. This is because before i started on this course i had
no knowledge of how to use photoshop. From starting the course, i have learnt different ways of
constructing work together and gathering more of a artistic view on my work. I’ve also developed
my planning and creating ideas. These aspects i use to struggle with due to struggling to develop
my ideas further. From practicing this, i have come to terms with how to approach different
situations related to my work. This has lead for my work to become more effective and better. This
has also helped me with my time management which was a massive factor that i struggle with. I
feel like all these skills are vital for when i go into the media industry. This is because it has taught
me how to approach situations to suit certain clients and audiences. It has also developed my
understanding of different media platforms and how to construct a piece of effective work.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
My project concept is to create a film and tv series related magazine and website. I have chosen
this genre because i have a great interest in films and feel like i could develop this idea in the most
effective way possible. I also feel like film is a huge genre to write about too. This will make it easy
to write different reviews and create a effective piece of work.
The research i will need to conduct is to look into other websites and magazines. This will help me
with how to construct these aspects when it comes to editing. From this, it will help me develop my
photoshop skills and will help me pick out key aspects which present certain genres. For example:
with creating a film magazine, i will include a lot of different reviews which will be displayed on the
double page spread as well as the website. Also it will help me explore different genres and target
audiences which will develop my knowledge on what audiences expect from this sort of
advertisements.
From the research it will help me include relevant features which will appeal to my target audience.
This will help me conduct my colour scheme, different features and what imagery would be best
suited for my double page spread, website and magazine.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
For the evaluation, i plan to do this by blogging my progress through out the weeks of this rotation.
This will help me see where my strengths and weaknesses are which will lead me to make more
effective work in the future. From doing this, i will be able to see where i need to develop my work.
For example: i have struggled with my time management which means i need to plan my work
more effectively. This will then lead to more effective production work.
I will also do product reflection which will allow me to evaluate all my work as a whole. This means i
can discuss how to improve my planning, research, proposal and other aspects. This means in the
future, i will be able to improve everything including my editing work.
