2. Name
• Escapism
- Suitable name as it fits perfectly with the
feelings, emotions and situation of
protagonist.
3. Genre
• Our film is in the genre of drama.
• We believe it’s a drama because it’s based on
a very sensitive and deep topic that’s realistic
in today’s society, it also involves real life
situations.
4. Age Certification
• 12, 12A
• I think this because it’s narrative is very
touching and shows aspects of society that
not many people like or feel comfortable
talking about such as abuse. I feel that
anybody under this age won’t full understand
what’s happening in the film and won’t take it
as seriously as what it is.
5. Locations and Characters
• We are planning on using 3 main locations for the
opening sequence:
• Alleyway
• Bedroom
• House (run down area)
• We are planning on having only 3 characters in the
opening sequence:
• Father
• Son
• Son’s friend
6. Fashion
• All the characters will wear simple and modest
clothing that fits them into everyday life. From
everybody else’s perspective they’re a bit
rough and are inferior. Their clothes are worn
and old, as they have been past down the
generations.
7. Typography
I think this font fits well with our narrative as it’s broken and
you can tell that something isn’t right about it. Also some of
the letters have been cut in half, this links with the situation
of the protagonist as he has many choices that could tear
him in half.
The name of our font.
8. Narrative
• Our film is about a father who abuses his son to help him get over painful
experiences in his life which is influenced by alcohol. His wife died and as a
consequence he tried to find an escape to the pain by drinking excessive amounts
regularly. This turns him against his son who doesn't want anything to do with him.
• The son is torn between letting the police and social services get involved or to do
nothing and allow it to happen. He fears that if his father loses him then he will
possibly turn suicidal and feel as if everything he lives for has gone. The son turns
to weak drugs to try and help get him through the situation he’s stuck in.
• He tells one of his friends who as an “outsider” has a neutral perspective on the
circumstance. He becomes bias towards his friend’s side of the ordeal and
confronts the police. The son grows in confidence and see’s that what his father is
doing is illegal and something needs to happen to prevent further cases of abuse.
• The son finds a letter from his late mother telling him that she is proud of him and
wants him to do well. He feels he can’t let him mother down so he stands up to his
father and isn't intimidated by him anymore. He says that he’s taking the situation
to the police and court and finally gets found guilty and the son is put into care by
the authorities.
9. Audience
• I think that the audience for our film is
teenagers and parents. Teenagers will be able
to see how to ask for help or to speak up to
people who can take action. Parents because
they can look out for certain changes in their
Childs personality and behaviour. They can
support and influence their decisions on how
to act in the situation.
