2. Content
• In this PowerPoint I will be explaining the plans for my short film and
the requirements for the film.
• The film itself will be a short film that explores the effects of physical
and emotional loneliness, depression and disconnection on
teenagers. It will focus on a teenager who is isolated by his friends,
after he cheats with his best friends girlfriend; who are then caught
together.
3. Content - Plot
• The main plot of the short film starts of when the main character is found by his (former) best
friend to be cheating with his friends girlfriend. After this the protagonist is ostracized by his
social group and becomes isolated. After this is retreats to his room and becomes almost recluse.
• At this time the protagonist feels incredibly isolated from the outside world, and he retreats to his
room. Due to his lack of friends, the protagonist starts to look for people online to talk to. He ends
up meeting a girl on a social networking website. Though their (non-romantic) relationship starts
of slow, over the course of a few weeks they become very close and open with each other. The girl
reveals that her brother died a few years ago and since then she has spent her life inside her
home. The girl helps the protagonist get back on his feet and gives him advice when dealing with
his former friends.
• Eventually the protagonist reconnects with his former friends and starts to hang out with them
again. He sends a message thanking the girl, and the girl replies that she has been inspired by the
protagonist and has decided to venture outside once again. The protagonist sends one final
message, asking if the girl would like to meet up in person.
• End Film.
4. Target Audience
• The target audience of my film will be older teens and adults. This is
because the subject matter can affect teenagers, as teenagers can see
first hand the affects of social isolation amongst teenagers, and the
subject matter may connect with isolated teenagers.
• The film can targeted towards adults as well as it allows parents to
potentially see the dangers of social isolation and it might be able
recognise the warning signs.
5. Resources
• The resources that I require to produce this film are easily accessible.
I would use the streets outside my house and I can use the rooms
inside my house, in particular the living room and hallway, and my
brothers bedroom.
• My film does not require a large number of different set locations,
and the filming can be done inside the same area (e.g. my house).
6. Personnel
• As my film is lacking in any form of budget I will have to use my own skeleton
crew, which is comprised of:
• Director of Photography/Camera Man
• Sound Recorder
• Make up and Hair Artist
• Production Assistant
• Gaffer Grip
Due to my lack of budget I may have to double up on the roles, with people performing
multiple roles. I would prefer to use a mixture of classmates (as they understand the
particular roles required), and school friends (because they are readily available
compared to my classmates, who may be unavailable due to other media projects.
7. Personnel cont.
(left) An example of the production roles and
the people who would fulfil those roles.
8. Personnel cont.
• For the protagonist I would like to use a school friend of mine called
Ollie Johnson, as I feel that he would be the best fit for the main
character.
• For secondary characters I would like to use Tristen Brewer and Lizzie
Lawrence (for the roles of former friend to the protagonist and as the
girlfriend the main characters cheats with, respectively).
• As apart of the cast, I would cast my own parents as the parents of
the film’s protagonist.
