2. Goal of the Design
The overall goal of this project was to create designs
that the WOU football program can use in reaching
out to the Monmouth/Independence/Dallas
community. I created a flyer that can be posted in
public areas to draw attention to the program and
entice community members to be a part of the WOU
football family. I created a letter to send out to
community members on a mailing list to reach them
personally. And I created the opening slide to a
PowerPoint presentation that we would display at a
community celebration event for the season. All of
these designs must create a sense of unity and
togetherness surrounding the program. I want
community members to want to be a part of the
WOU football family and to feel accomplished when
we have success.
3. Design Descriptions
• The flyer design is my final project from the term. I feel
that I used elements of type and color exceptionally
well. Additionally, I think that the images I used embody
the message well by providing a sense of excitement and
joy to the design.
• The letter design uses elements from the initial flyer
design in its conception. In this design, I used the
absence of color to create contrast and give a formal
tone to the design. The text aligns well, which is
pleasing to the eye. Elements that I carried over was the
use of a black bar on the bottom of the page, the font
used throughout the design, and the color of the type at
the bottom of the page. A change I made was that I
took the image from the initial design, changed it, and
made it transparent, putting it in the banner.
• The PowerPoint design is an example of the first slide of
a banquet PowerPoint. We would use this at a
community celebration event, thanking people for their
support during the season. I went back to the original
red color for the title, overlaid over a black bar. The
message of “Celebrate 2015 with the Pack” is in a nice
script font that I used in the flyer design. The team
photo at the bottom is an addition, but I think it fit well
with the purpose of the design, giving a sense of team
unity and celebration of the program and the larger
community. The image of the in-state wolf in the
background is lightened even further, so as not to
conflict with the text. But the logo reinforces the WOU
football program in the design.
