Narrative
Clearly state what production technique(s) you think have
been used to create specific soundtrack elements
Setting in the game is the same as the rest of the game in a post-apocalyptic world
infested by an alien race referred to as locust. The setting in this cut-scene like the
rest of the game is dark and lonely as you discover more backstory and how people
have decayed to what they are today. This cut-scene shows companionship and how
people are affected just in its audio.
The mood in the cut-scene is dark and lonely just like the setting for the game. Just
through a change in the voice of a character you can hear a character change their
mood and break emotionally.
The games genre is a shooter so it is expected to not have a deep storyline but it is
episodic so it follows a story. There is a sense of loss in the cut-scene as you hear a
truck horn far away and the characters look confused then it gets louder as the
viewer sees the sudden realism as to what is happening.
1:20 – There is a sound queue to fit the music
with someone being crushed.
1:33 – The dialogue is raised in volume above the
music for the first time in the cut-scene you can
hear how broken the character is.
1:41-2:00 – This is where you hear the character
break in his voice and emotionally.
Somebody sacrifices themselves and the audio mainly the music track helps to grab
emotion from the player/viewer.
0:09-0:14 – We see the truck come into shot and
can hear it get louder.
0:25 – We can hear the music begin as we realise
what is happening and just the audio can help
with this.
0:14 – Music begins
