Beyond: Two souls ending cutscene 11:03http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQSxGZATlHI
Provide detailed descriptions from chosen examples that establish…
Setting
Clearly state what production technique(s) you think have
been used to create specific soundtrack elements
In the choice of life or death, Jodie chooses to go into the beyond, showing light
blue lights representing spirits and choosing life shows the previous scene in which
she had to disable ‘the black sun’
Now she gets the choice of life or death, 11:03 shows the life option in which
consists of bright blue lights and water-like lighting around her as she walks through
It then goes back to showing the result of her disabling ‘the black sun’ as her
Companion Ryan is left alone, sounds of explosions as it shuts down and spirits
going back inside the rift of the black sun
The aftermath of the explosion shows cracks In the ground and debris all around.
Lighting effects from the start to represent the
afterlife, camera effects like water lightings
around the main character as she walks to her
death.
The use of explosions after the death scene shows
the state left with the debris and state of the
area.
The sounds of violins and pianos at the choice of
death makes us feel saddened about the choice,
but playing the game helps us see why this choice
is logical
Mood
From 11:03 at the choice of walking into the Beyond violins and pianos are used in a
light saddening tone to show that choosing death over life may have been a better
choice and it makes us feel heavy at the heart.
The mood back at the explosion is still sad due to knowing that the companion to
the main character will witness the death they have and further send us on an
emotional trip.
Sounds of violins to create a sad effect backed
with a piano to also add towards it.
The sound of the black sun retracting like an
implosion as the volume backs away.

Game genre
Interactive drama, action-adventure
Due to being an Interactive drama, most cutscenes consist of user input as Quantic dream
make their games this way.
Narrative
Due to a scientist going insane to return his family as ghosts, all his research leads
him to insanity as he only wants to see his family, leading him to release a rift into
the world, which brings in entities which kill anyone, although most ghosts escape,
they can’t keep the rift open for long
Leading the main character who has connections with the ghost realm to shut it off
and causes the decision of life or death, leading to an un-interactive cutscene after a
crucial choice
With the storyline of the character being adopted
from birth and then abandoned after having
‘special powers’ from another realm, we feel
emotions when something happens to the
character.
