2. What is the landslide?
• Landslide is one of the kind of earth
moving.
• Includes rock slopes, shallow stone
leakage
• (may occur under the water)
• Not only on Earth but on other planets
as well, for example on Mars and on
Venus
• If the slope loses its
stability, a landslide may
occur!

3. Formation reasons:
1. Groundwater pressure -growth
the slope stability
2. Lack or loss of vertical
vegetation, humus and soil
structure –after the wildfire
3. Volcano eruption
4. Deforestation and construction
on a sensitive slope
5. Vibrations caused by work
equipment or vehicle traffic
6. Bombings

4. Types-Debris flow:
• Water from saturated sloping
debris can cause debris or
runoff
• (The Transylvanian Killer Lake
was similarly created: the
sloping slope of the mountain
swamped the waters of several
streams.)

5. Types-shallow landslides:
• Those landslides where the slider is found in the
base rock are called shallow landslides.

6. Tsunami induction:
Submarine landslides can lead to
tsunami.
Large masses of landslides can lead to
megacunamies of several hundred meters in height.
