An oceanic plate subducts under a continental plate at a subduction zone due to the lower density of oceanic crust. As the oceanic plate descends it melts, and the resulting magma rises to create volcanic arcs, trenches, and island arcs above the subduction zone. Common examples are found along the Cascade Volcanic Arc in North America.

When the convection currents move an
oceanic plate into a continental wave, it
creates a subduction zone.
Effect
As a result, an oceanic plate goes under a
continental plate due to lower density and
creates features like trench, volcanic arc and
an island arc.

Subduction zone is a plate boundary in which an oceanic plate is being pushed into a continental
plate. An oceanic plate gets subducted by a continental because of the lower density. As oceanic
plate goes lower, it gets melting and turning into magma. After that, magma makes it's way
through the crust creating features like trench, volcanic arc and island arc. A few real world
events are Mount St. Helens eruption and the eruption of Lassen Peak. These are very common
boundaries which mostly occur within the Ring of FIre.
