1. Question 3 – What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and
why?
New line cinema will be distributing our film because they have a lot of experience with
independent films and therefore they will be able to support us. New line cinema has
distributed many Crime and Thriller films that have been very successful such as; Final
Destination, Rush Hour 3, Blade etc. New line cinema has distributed films that have an
age rating of 15. Our film has an age rating of 16+ as we have incorporated guns and drugs
which younger viewers might find disturbing. Our production company is Marv Films
because they have produced similar films which have the same genre as us such as;
Kingsman, Kick-Ass 2, Layer Cake etc. Our film Fracture would require a budget of
£800,000 we will be using the money for marketing to ensure people are aware of our
film. Reservoir Dogs is an independent film and their genre is crime they had a budget of
1.2 million USD. Fracture will be shown in an independent cinema as many people like to
watch films in the cinema because it’s better quality and audio. I did research and found
out a lot of people like to go to the cinema to watch theirfavourite films. However, after a
while it will distributed via DVD because our target audience teenage males spend 16-
25hours PW watching TV and they are online for 50+hours/PW, so therefore they spend
majority of their time indoors so by distributing it via DVD would be more ideal for them.
The channels that might show our film is E4 at 10pm because after 22:00 they have an age
rating of 16+ because they show films, TV shows, documentaries etc which younger
viewers might find disturbing and because our film has drugs and weapons it will be
shown after 22:00. Our target audience watch TV a lot they spend at least 16-25hours PW
usually on E4, so therefore this is why to chose E4. The resources I used IMDB and Box
Office.
