The document discusses evaluation planning for a media project. It includes questions about how the media product uses or challenges conventions, how effective the combination of the main product and ancillary texts are, and how media technologies were used in the construction and evaluation of the project. Feedback from audiences is also discussed, with examples of changes made based on feedback, such as matching shots more closely to the beat of the song. The importance of gathering audience feedback is highlighted to help ensure the final products are successful and appealing.
2. Question 1: In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media
products?
3. Andrew Goodwin:
Thought through beat:
Our music video goes to the beat of the song, allowing the audience to understand the storyline, so therefore what is happening
visually reflects the lyrics.
We have a clear storyline of what's going on in our music video because we have incorporated many different camera shots to give
the audience an indication of what's happening.
Amplify:
One scene we had used which was quite repetitive was his siblings arguing
Technical aspects of a music video:
Camera: We have used many different camera angles in our music video which allows the audience to understand the storyline and
creates a dramatic effect. It also sets the atmosphere.
Mise-en-scene: We have used several of props in our music video: pills, ghost mask, letter and powerpoint to make our music video
more realistic.
High key lighting: Natural light
Editing: Scribble effect which follows the common conventions of EDM, bright colours.
Quick cuts to create excitement and goes with the beat.
4. MECS:
Mise-en-scene:
Costume: Casual clothes to connote he is a normal teenager boy who is going through a difficult time, our music video is
targeted towards 16year old and therefore are able to relate to the music video.
Props: Pills played an important role in our music video because it implied to the audience the boy is feeling stressed and
annoyed which has resulted him taking pills, but at the end he overcomes his problems.
Camera:
In terms of our genre EDM, there are a lot of close up shots being used, and we followed the conventions and added close up
shots to show his emotions.
Editing:
Quick cuts: Excitement
Faced paced editing: Time is going forward.
Scribble effect: Following the common conventions of EDM, including bright colours, and it also gives a clear indication of our
music video.
5. Music videos I was influenced by:
Bruno Mars was one of the videos that inspired us to use a scribble effect because it shows the storyline more clear and it
really helps the audience to understand what's going on in the music video.
Where are you now: This video also another music video that influenced us to use a scribble effect because our genre is EDM,
and we wanted to incorporate many bright colours as possible, and therefore by using a scribble effect will allow us to be
more creative and also follow the common conventions of EDM.
How I will present this:
Using Camtasia
6. Challenged the conventions?
We didn’t challenge the common conventions of EDM.
Conventions of EDM:
Faced paced
High key lighting
Bright colour
Tracking shots
Editing effects
Slow
Match the beat
Long shots
The reasons why we didn’t challenge the conventions of EDM, was because we wanted to
ensure it grabbed our audiences attention and looked appealing to watch.

I will also compare existing products; The Chainsmokers and Avicii.
8. Question 2: How effective is the combination of your main
product and ancillary text?
9. Synergy & how my audience can recognize them as linked products...
The pictures and the effects I have used for my website and digipak are very similar to each other and therefore allows the
audience to recognise the products. Received feedback from my target audience on a regular basis, and therefore ensured
they were satisfied.

Changes made prior to the feedback:
The shot of powder paint being thrown at Sarvesh is too long, so therefore we added colour grading.
