• Give a definition of Raster Graphics
Raster Graphics is made in Bitmap, Bitmap is
made in tiny pixels which creates a picture. The
more pixels there is the better quality the
picture.

3. Vector Graphics
• Give a definition of Vector Graphics
Vector Graphics is made of vectors. They are
smooth and clean. They are often used for logos
and for professional companies like businesses.
Vectors Graphics also has less file size compare
to Bitmap and usually very high quality.

Stands For Joint Photographic Experts Group
Used For/Example JPEG is a popular file format and they are
often used for photos and web formats.
Advantage The advantage of JPEG is that they don’t
take much space and everyone around the
world can view the file.
Disadvantage The problem of JPEG is that they loose
image quality overtime. JEPEG is not
subtitle for transparency images, for
drawing templates or logos.

Stands For Tagged Image File Format
Used For/Example They are usually used for desktop
publishing, for designing and graphics.
Advantage TIFF can save multi pages in one file, this
makes it easier to find your work in one
file than multiple.
Another advantage about Tiff is that they
don’t loose its quality from compression.
Disadvantage The problem of TIFF is that the file size can
get too big by lots of pages with the
image. this could take a large portion of
your space.
TIFF is also hard for someone to email due
from the file size.

Stands For Graphics Interchange Format
Used For/Example GIF are used for short digital animation
and often used around the internet.
Advantage It creates a mini short video and some
GIFF are usually are creative.
GIF are sometimes great for sending
messages to people expressing their
emotion in a creative way.
GIFF also includes transparent
background.
Disadvantage The disadvantage of GIFFs that they are
usually in bad image quality.

Stands For Bitmap Image File
Used For/Example Bitmap is pretty much similar to TIFF and
GIFFs.
Advantage Unlike JPEG, they loose its quality while
being compressed but BMP will always
retain its full quality and doesn't get
compressed.
Disadvantage The problem with BMP is the file size is
large and its rarely used unlike JPEG,TIFFs
and GIFs.

Used For/Example PSD files are often used for image

as magazines.
Advantage They great thing about PSD files they save
layers, page formatting information.
PSD also support Transparent.
Disadvantage The problem of PSD files that not
everyone can see it due from the
accessibility of mobiles phones.
The file size is also a problem with PSD
files as they too big.

Stands For Adobe Illustrator Art
Used For/Example They often used for drawing, logo creation
and graphics to represent a companies
logo.
Advantage The advantage of AI is that they can be
scaled to big and small as vectors has no
loss in definition.
They are high quality and great for printing
Disadvantage The AI file can’t be embed it online.
Newer versions of AI may also create
problems with compatibility issues.
Less people can’t access the file in phones.

12. FLA
Stands For Flash File
Used For/Example They are generally used for entertainment
and advertising for webpages.
They are useful to create animation and
mini games. They could be played and see
often around the internet with websites
such like Newground.
Advantage FLA can create high quality files with a
small file they can also include sounds.
Disadvantage The problems with FLA is that people
could find problem accessing the file if
they had a slow internet connection.
The Flash can be disabled if the people
have flash content blocked

Stands For Windows Meta File
Used For/Example WMF is similar to AI, as the are used for
logos and graphic arts.
Advantage Windows Meta File can be scaled large
and small as they have no loss in
definition.
They can also contain both vector and
bitmap elements.
Disadvantage The problems with WMF is that they have
limitation such they don’t support rotation
in object and WMF also do not support
wide linetypes.

Advantage The good thing about compression is that

file may reduces some space but the
quality of the image will change and may
look blurry or pixelated depending the
quality of the picture. This will affect
professionalism of the work and loose

getting less colour. You can also optimise
by reducing the resolution by having less
pixels.
Advantage to optimising The advantage of optimising is that you
website will preform quicker and your
images will load faster.
Disadvantage to optimising The disadvantage of optimising is that it
may loose quality depending how you
reducing the file size. It can also affect by
changing bits of aspect of your original
photo which could ruined such as the
colour or the size.

When you naming your assets its important to
keep it short and easy to locate the file. For your
video game you would want to layout like this;

assets?
It is good idea to accurately name your assets so
you have an idea of where to locate your files
and don’t get confuse with other files while
using some these assets when producing the
game.

your assets?
You would use folders to store aspects as it
will organise and lays out your files neatly.
It will also make it simple to locate your
project than having mix files everywhere.

You could create one folder naming your
project for an example;

different individual folders that you can
save your assets on too.
