I have learned a lot about filmmaking technology through constructing this project. The hardware used included an iPhone 6 camera, tripod, and professional microphone. Final Cut Pro X was used for editing. Websites like YouTube, Blogger, and Sound Bible were utilized for clips, embedding media, surveys, and sound effects. Through the process, I've improved my editing skills using tools like the blade and color correction. Technical challenges included low lighting, which I overcame through color matching. In the future, I aim to have smoother camerawork and better achieve my creative visions while balancing group collaboration.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
Read| The latest issue of The Challenger is here! We are thrilled to announce that our school paper has qualified for the NATIONAL SCHOOLS PRESS CONFERENCE (NSPC) 2024. Thank you for your unwavering support and trust. Dive into the stories that made us stand out!
1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process
of constructing this product?
2. • I have learnt so much about technology as without technology it would so
hard to make a film as you need a camera with a good enough quality to film
shots also you need an editing software so the film can be made shorter and
put the important clips are in the final product. Also you need the internet to
get the sound effects, music and in my case, write about it on blogs so
without technology it would be tough to make a film of good quality.
3. Hardware
• The hardware that was used were a camera and a tripod. The camera we used was
actually a IPhone 6 as we had to adapt as we didn’t have access to any camera at the
time. However, the quality of the camera on the IPhone was very good as it had a
12-megapixel camera. The tripod we used had a phone adapter as it couldn’t
normally fit so we needed it, this made filming with a phone simpler and gives us
more steady shots. The microphone we used for the radio part was a professional
one as it was used by Dom McGuinness from TalkSport as he voiced our radio
broadcaster. As for the software, we only had to used one which was for editing, it
was Final Cut Pro X 10. It was very professional which helped our film to get to the
highest quality that we can get it to.
4. Websites
• I have used many internet sites in my time doing this project. Obviously I have used blogger as it was the
website I had to use to put my blog posts up on, it was a great website as it had more features than I
expected as you could put clips and pictures on the blog as well as making the layout of the blog unique to
you. Also another obvious website I have used is YouTube to get all the clips I needed on the blog also it’s a
place where I upload what’s needed for the blog. Also in Blogger I have learnt how to embed a clip in the
blog so you can view it on the blog instead of clicking a link. Survey Monkey was used to create a survey for
the target audience which was filled in by people which gave us an idea which direction we want to go. I have
used the Sound Bible to get the sound effects of the gun loading in the film and of the head-butt also
Epidemic Music is where we got our non-copyright music for all of the film’s scenes. Some music was useful
and was used in the film but some didn’t go with the scene and wasn’t necessary to be put in. The music was
necessary overall as it tells a story and gives away the mood of the scene and the feeling of the characters,
also it fills up parts of the scene where it is too quiet and looks empty.
5. Learnt?
• I have learned many things and gained may skills from this experience, it has given
me the knowledge of seeing a mistake in a sequence that others couldn’t see and
know how to rectify or improve it. With editing, I have learnt how to use the blade
tool so I could split clips and take chunks out instead of just making the clip shorter
which improved my overall editing skills and I have learnt how to put sound in the
scene which was to download it on the computer then move on to Final Cut Pro X
during editing, I used this to put the sound of the gun loading effect on. I also
learnt how to zoom in or out of the scene, post production through the use of Ken
Burns effect.
6. Learnt?/Problems
• From shooting my scene, I have mastered the tripod, I know to put phone on the phone
clip and also I know how to adjust the tilt and the height to what I wanted for the shot also
I know how to move it so I can do pans.
• One technical difficulty I encountered was that the lighting in my scene was too dark, it was
one of the few weaknesses on my scene, it drove me and my group crazy, I tried many
things like colour match with brighter scene but it only worked a little bit and it was
unpredictable as the scene could change colour; in the end I finally figured out how to
brighten it with the colour correction tool and used the highlight feature. Another problem
was that in post-production, I have realised that my camera work was a bit off as there was
this part of my scene when the camera pans up and it did but not smoothly, I know how to
do a smoother transition if I did it again.
7. • I was proud of the continuity in my scene as at the start the phone was
ringing and it was diegetic and I didn’t put any sound effect in, I have
managed to keep it going without a major hitch throughout three scenes and
it flowed very well also when the hero opens the suitcase, I had many shots
of that and it all flowed together nicely. Also I was proud that I finally
brightened my scene which was a damnation on me for a time.
8. conclusion
• The only limitation to my creativity was the skills I have as I think I have
improved in them but not to the level of what I want also working an equal
group was limiting at time as we all had different visions and we had to
compromise, I like our opening sequence very much but it wasn’t what I
envisioned.
