2. Design
• Text sizing was important throughout the whole of the magazine. On the front cover
the larger text was used to get the readers attention and draw their eyes to certain
things first’ such as the main story
•The words such as ‘exclusive’ and ‘plus’ are in a different colour. The word ‘exclusive’
is in orange and the word ‘plus’ is in white. This makes the words almost pop out to
the reader and will draw their attention.
• The photography on my front cover worked well with the design and the written
elements of the page. The image used on the cover was able to be placed in right
thirds of the page. This allowed me to put the text on the left hand side of the page
in a unique way.
• the style was kept simple with 3-4 colours. I used red, black and orange for the text
that I wanted to stand out.
3. Language
• The language that I used in my magazine was balanced both with the music culture
and magazine speech. I didn't want to make the language too direct to the R&B music
scene as I didn't want to sound unprofessional. However I didn't want to make my
magazine so professional that it wasn't targeted at the correct audience.
4. Thinking about it as a brand
• As a brand I would want my magazine to be as professional as it could be but I
would still want it to be what the audience wanted. I would want the audience
to feel like they could relate with the contents of my magazine that they would
want to buy it whenever there was a new issue out.
• One of my main aims was to connect to the readers and make them feel part
of a larger group. It was essential that they connected with the magazine I felt
that the language and the images contributed to that.
