The magazine was designed to attract a target audience of young people interested in indie music. To do so, the content focused on topics like live concerts. Images included eye-catching photos from concerts. The language used was informal with some mild swearing to seem approachable. Fonts on the cover and articles were designed to look sophisticated yet suit the genre. The overall design aimed to attract readers through interesting content and visuals tailored to the target audience.

1. How did you attract, address your
audience
content'image' language' font' style
was designed toaddress!attract the
target audience.
2. Content
• The content I included in my magazine was purposefully and specifically included
to attract my target audience. I included things like things about live concerts
because I know young people which is my target audience like attending live
concerts. Also when writing the article for the double page spread the q&a I made
sure that the questions would be interesting and keep the reader enticed.
• Also on my contents page and front cover I made sure I included the word
‘exclusive’ a lot and made it stand out, this would attract my audience as they feel
like they are reading brand new information that nobody else may have read and it
is only in my magazine and nowhere else which would make them more likely to
buy it
The word ‘exclusive’ is
on the middle of my
front cover which
shows that it is
important
3. Images
• My front cover image is very eye-catching, the model is very pretty wears indie styled clothes
and is wearing make-up, this is eye catching and would attract many people.
• Live music and concerts is a big part of the indie genre because of this I made sure to include
live music pics I took at a concert, they are eye catching and the reader would be really
interested in what band this is.
• Also indie can be quite natural and easy going because of this I included quite a relaxed image
on my double page spread which made the magazine seem more informal and friendly
4. Language
• The language I used was quite informal, this made my magazine quite relaxed and
conversation like.
• I also included some curse words because my audience are older teens and young
adults the language it will make them feel like they are treated by there age as
minor swearing will make them feel there age. The swearing wasn’t offensive and
was used in context.
• The swearing word I did use was used in my double page spread-
‘How do you prepare for a concert?
Drink sh*t loads of water, shower, making sure I have deodorant on is also vital...One
thing I do like to do is Skype my mum in Chicago, she takes all my nerves away’
• The swear word is appropriate and is not that big of a curse
• I also attracted my audience by using punctuation such as exclamation points and
ellipses.
• Furthermore I added a pun for interest, ‘Foo fighters break a leg’ this is a pun
because David Grohl the main member of the foo fighters broke his leg while on
stage, indie and rock fans would have heard about this and would be interested to
read it.
5. Font
• On my contents page I used two main fonts; Eras Demi and Berlin Sans.
Both of these fonts are serif and compliment each other well, they would
attract the reader as they are easy to read yet sophisticated and suit my
genre of music, they don’t look like they are out of place and the letters
are designed in an interesting way.
• On my double page spread I used Algerian font on my title in the middle of
my page as it looked similar to the fonts on my contents page but is
different and the letters look good when in caps and are in proportion as I
made the letters In the title different sizes. I then used Arial for the main
text apart from a different font for the guys name to introduce him and
make him stand out. I also used a drop cap to bring the focus to the start
of the article so people read the whole thing.
• On my front cover I used various fonts because it brought the attention to
different things, I had different parts on my front cover and by using
different fonts it brought it all together and made it look successful
