Q5
1. QUESTION 5. HOW DID
YOU ATTRACT/ADDRESS
YOUR AUDIENCE?
Megan Brown
2. Front cover
• The colour scheme on my front cover
was one of the points made by the
audience on what was most
appealing about my cover. I used red,
white and black as they were best
associated with indie rock genre. This
stood out to the audience as the
colours worked well together and
caught the audience attention.
• My main image was also most
appealing to target audience as my
main image is giving direct address
with the reader this is part of the
code and conventions of a magazine
front cover, which connects with
them, more which inclines them to
buy the magazine.
3. • The artist facial expressions is also
catches the readers attention as the
Image is different and shows attitude,
this reflects the indie and genre but also
entices people into the magazine.
• My front cover also attracts audience by
the cover lines. I used the most popular
bands from my target audience research,
as I knew this would attract the audience
by using popular bands. As part of the
cover I used different fonts and colours,
the different fonts was used to use
attract the audience to every part of the
cover. As my main coverlines are in a
larger font to make them stand out, the
main title is the different colour and size
as this is a convention as the title is the
main part of the front cover to stand out.
Front cover
4. Front cover
• I addressed the audience as my main image conveys an
informal image, the outfit in itself shows that the magazine
itself a formal magazine as it shows attitude along with
the facial expressions. I feel this speaks to the audience
as it shows individuality which the audience may relate in
themselves.
• One of my coverlines on the front cover is from Jamie T
‘How music saved me’, as again for a audience they may
relate to this and may be another reason they buy the
magazine but I feel it speaks to the audience through
related problems.
5. Content page
• Within my content page, the most
appealing features on my audience
feedbacks were the clear layout of the
page. The layout makes it look
professional and follows the
conventions of a structured column,
these appeals to the audience if the
layout is easy to read they will find it
more appealing to read because if it
was over complicated people wouldn’t
want to read it.
• Also my images was mentioned within
the audience feedback. The images
what caught the reader attention, as
they also work with the layout as more
images make the page stand out
more.
6. Contents page
• The text in itself also attracts the reader attention, as the
bands I used was in my pervious question the bands that
was mentioned where the bands I used. The text has
variety as it goes from interviews, to reviews to talking
about the bands themselves. I feel the range of different
type will excite the reader as there is a lot of variety.
• I addressed the audience by the use of how informal the
language is, I feel my magazine has a element of easy
flow to it which may speak to the reader has it may
influence them into buying it.
7. Double page spread
• The double page spread follows
the colour scheme throughout my
magazine, which will attract the
reader. The red title on the spread
makes the bands name stands out.
• On my audience feedback the
feature that attracts them to the
page was the layout as the layout
of the text was easy to follow with
the question being in a different
the text was easy to understand,
meaning for the audience this
would appeal to them.
8. Double page spread
• Another feature would be the image as
on both double pages the images stand
out, on the first double spread the image
shows the cheekiness of the lads which
eye contact from the band which will
attract to the reader. As my double page
spread is two separate pages the first
page will intrigue the reader into the
band, as they will want to read on later.
• I addressed the audience by the use of
vocabulary throughout the article, as I did
use socially unacceptable language. For
my target audience which is 16-25 this
will be easier for them to read a easier
vocabulary but also using unacceptable
language may make them feel as they
aren't being treated as a child.
