The student learned several lessons from creating their first college magazine that they applied to improving their music magazine. Based on feedback, they made the masthead on the cover larger and stand out more. They also spaced out the cover lines so they were not too close to the cover image. For the contents page, they lined up the page numbers and enlarged the main image so the contents page color matched the cover page color better. Overall, they believe they successfully met the targets they set to incorporate the lessons learned from their first magazine.

2. Once finishing my college magazine, I had to take onboard the feedback I
was given and I had to set myself a few targets for the music magazine to
make sure it was better than the first. The first thing that was said to me
about my cover was: ‘The ‘LSC Student’ looks quite squashed within her
head and doesn’t stand out which it should as it is the branding’. I defiantly
think I took this comment on board and developed it, as on my music
magazine the masthead is the biggest piece of writing on the cover and it
stands out the most. I was also told: ‘the black text is too close to the
image’ meaning that my cover lines were too close to the cover star. Again,
I believe I took it on board and made sure I didn’t do that whilst making my
full product.
3. With my contents page, I was told that it has a nice layout,
it’s clear to read and the images are nice. However, I
wasn’t really happy with the look of it as the page
numbers weren’t lined up with the writing properly and
the images at the top looked really squashed together.
To fix this on my music magazine, I made sure that the
page numbers were on the line below the writing and I put
the some amount of dots before each page number to
make sure they were all in line.
I also didn’t include as many pictures and I enlarged the
main picture so that the contents page would be the same
colour as the cover page.
4. Some of the targets I had set myself while writing my college magazine
evaluation were to ensure that I spread out the cover lines so that
they’re not all bunched up by the cover star, to make sure the
masthead was big and bold and to make sure that the background
colours were the same unless I intentionally made them different.
I believe I have met all of my targets as the errors I made on my
college magazine haven’t been made on my music magazine. I was
having some trouble with the cover lines at first but I think I managed
to fix it. I was able to get the contents and cover pages near enough
the same colour and I managed to keep a good theme throughout the
pages. The pictures on my music magazine’s contents page are not too
close together and the page numbers are lined up nicer than before.
