The speaker welcomes distinguished guests, colleagues, and students to the 6th Prince Mahidol Award Youth Program Conference. The conference aims to inspire young physicians to promote global health and create health science researchers through cooperation between Thai and international medical institutions. Five young physician scholars will present the results of their 12-month research projects, conducted under mentors at prominent institutes, and discuss plans to extend the benefits of their work to Thai people and worldwide. > Home > Welcome Message
Dear Professors, Distinguished Guests, Colleagues
and Students,
It is my great pleasure and honor to extend to
you a warm welcome to the 6th
Prince Mahidol
Award Youth Program Conference 2018, to be
held today. This conference is the side meeting of
The Prince Mahidol Award Conference which is
an annual international conference hosted by the
Royal Thai Government, the Prince Mahidol Award
Foundation and co-hosted by World Health
Organization, the World Bank, Joint United Nations
Programme on HIV/AIDS, U.S. Agency for
International Development, Japan International
Cooperation Agency, the Rockefeller Foundation,
China Medical Board, and Chatham House with the
support from other key related partners. The
theme for Prince Mahidol Award Conference 2018
is “Making the World Safe from the Threats of
Emerging Infectious Diseases”
The Prince Mahidol Award Youth Program
started in November 2008 and aims at
inspiring the young physicians to devote their
lives to promote health of mankind, as well
as creating young health science researchers
with cooperation between the Foundation
and the Thai and overseas medical/health
institutions. It will also promote the globalization
of the medical education system in Thailand, and
facilitate medical progress, as well as promoting
the understanding of the cultural differences in
health, education, administration and research.
2. This year five of those young physician
scholars have finished their research/training in
the interesting fields under supervision of
outstanding mentors of the prominent institutes.
They have come back and work at the hospitals
outside and in Bangkok. In this conference, they
will present their works and experiences of the 12-
month time period that they have spent for their
important task. They will also present the plan of
extending the benefits of their project to Thai
people and the mankind in both oral and poster
presentations.
I do hope that the Conference will be
successful in meeting objectives and provide the
ideal forum to stimulate ideas and establish
collaborations as well as to initiate intense
discussions about the improvement of this
program, role model and lifetime mentoring
network.
I declare the opening of the 6th
Prince Mahidol
Award Youth Program Conference 2018 and wish
all of you a fruitful participation.
