LOGO
Different shades of blue to keep in the connotations of the sea but they will be
used to highlight important information such as website address etc.
Variations
Just the text from the logo could be used
when the rest of the page is busy so the
audience will know who it is from.
Splitting the logo in two can create two different
variations of the logo that can be used depending
on if there is a lot of colour already on the product
or if it just needs to be kept minimalistic.
Inverting the colours can change the whole feel to the
logo. Having a white background makes it seem soft
but the black and white gives a harsher feel to it but
without being too overpowering.

CAMPAIGN POSTER
Idea 1
Idea 2
This was a quick mock up of
what I would like this campaign
to look like.
Proposal
I am going to choose idea 1.The campaign poster will be for young children between the age
of 4 and 9. It will be mainly targeted at girls because of the fairytale mermaid theme but I will
try to include boys too.
The idea of the poster will be a cartoon of a mermaid sat on a rock in the middle of the ocean.
She will have cartoon friends such as a crab and fish. This will attract young children. The fonts
will be easy to read and illustrational. There will not be a lot of writing because children of that
age would not be able to read it very well.
The idea of the poster will be getting children to know about marine litter and how cleaning
up the beaches will help. They will be invited to help collect mermaid tears and make them
into jewelry and other objects. It will have a positive change because of the positive imagery.
It will create attention to marine litter and how mermaid tears are one of the biggest litter
pollution on UK beaches hopefully bring about a local or even national change.
The colours I will use will be very bright and eye catching because children will be more
interested in this. This will include primary colours and orange and green. Simple but eye
catching colours. The colours will also stand out a lot from other posters.
To help me get the shape for the mermaid I used an existing image
from the link: www.artflakes.com/en/products/cute-cartoon-
mermaid-with-seahorse
I created this cartoon by rotoscoping the main shape and changing
the colours, some of the shaping and the eyes to make it my own.
When I had created all the characters I needed to do the background. I wanted it to be in the same style therefore I kept within
the same technique of rotoscope. I tried different backgrounds, some on the beach, some underwater and some showing a bit
of both. These are two styles I tried out before coming to my final decision.

MERCHANDISE
Mind Map
T-Shirts are always a good way to merchandise.
They can be worn anywhere and advertising your
campaign on them is a productive way to get the
word around. BUT to make it more appealing to an
audience who like to be by the sea I would
also like to produce a wetsuitT-Shirt design
too. I feel this would target my audience
appropriately.
Beach equipment that
is used by children with
the logo or images of
the characters in the
campaign on them.
Body boards so kids can start
learning how to surf young. Not
the full board because this is
already something the SAS
merchandise
Surf wax is a
product SAS
already produce, but I would
like to re-design the packaging
for kids.
SurfersAgainst Sewage already
produce mugs and flasks but I would
like to put my own campaign on the
mugs and change the design of the
flasks by making them in different
colours and appeal to children more.
Badges and
stickers are a
cheap and fun
way to help a
charity.
Towels and flannels are
always needed at the beach
and near water.Children do
not like to get out of the
sea or having a bath so
having something
nice to dry yourself with
will make it easier. Flannels
could be hard until you put
them into water.
Every child likes a soft toy, they
are sentimental to the child,
giving them names, sleeping with
them at night, it is some comfort.
The toys would be of each
character in my campaign such as
the seahorse, mermaid, fish and
turtle.
The plan to my campaign was for
children and parents to visit a beach
and help clean up the site from
mermaid tears. After the clean up there
will be a work shop to make your own
jewelry and key rings with the mermaid
tears they have just collected. They will
learn how to make their mermaid tear
shiny and have many different jewelry
options and pendants to choose from. I
thought this would be a great idea for
kids to get them hands on but they
have something to be proud of and
cherish at the end. I feel this would also
get more people involved and it also
gives children to learn about litter on
the beach. This campaign can also be
help in schools.
The first design I will create is my campaign poster.
This is because the cartoon design is very appealing
to kids and because they have seen it before they
form a connection to it.This design is very much for
children.
KidsT-shirt
Bag
Cushion
Duvet Cover
The design would also be perfect as a poster.
Design 1- Campaign Poster Merchandise
Laptop Sticker
Different StyleT-Shirts and Hoodie
Mug and
Travel Mug
Bag
This design is more for my
secondary audience, the adults/
parents.The design is very
simple, it is just of my logo for the
organization. Not only does it
appeal to the right audience, it
also advertises the logo to a
wider audience.
Design 2- Logo Merchandise
Design 3- Character Merchandise
Badges
Stickers
WetsuitT-Shirts
DrinkingCups
A series of badges
could be purchased in
a pack or singularly
and even if the SAS
came to schools to
teach children about
the organization
people who win a
game or answer a
word correctly could
get a small badge of
their choice.
Stickers would come in
a pack with 10-15
different stickers on it
with all the different
characters.Would be
sold for £2 a packet.
Most merchandise consists of at least one
t-shirt designs but I wanted to do
something unique and related to surfers
so I took the idea of a wetsuit t-shirt and
designed it for kids with their favourite
colours and characters on it.These would
sell for £16 as it is quality material.
Cushions
SoftToys
Soft toys are something children love and cherish. I tried my best to make a re-design of the characters but I
couldn’t design it from scratch. There are websites that make your drawings into soft toys but that would have
taken 9 weeks and a lot of money. The best way I thought I could achieve my soft toy design was using a
helping template and change the colours, and shapes to create it as my own.
KidsWetsuits
Bodyboards
Bucket and
Spades
Beach Shoes
Towels
This merchandise
page is all the
merchandise
related to people
interested in
surfing and beach
equipment. I tried
to create a range
of clothing and
equipment that
would appeal to
kids.
