2. Production reflections
• This proforma is to record how you worked on your production
• You should complete this each week during production
• Consider all relevant areas that you covered that week
• Think about what worked/what didn’t work/how you can improve
and actions for the following sessions/weeks
3. Process – week 1
• In the first week I focused on
coming up with initial plans and
ideas that I could make into
doable music videos. I needed the
think about how easy it would be
too pull off at my skill level and
how scalable from idea to
execution it would be
• I looked at an AJR song, a
Scroobius Pip song and one by Jon
Bellion. I ended up going for the
Jon Bellion song as it was easy to
do but would show off my skills
and look very good
• I am happy about two of the three
ideas and believe it will work well
4. Process – week 2
• During week 2 I researched
potential techniques and edits
that I could implement. I also
researched the artist and his
genre of music, this helped me it
come up with a final idea that
would match the style and other
videos in the genre.
• I experimented with transitions,
cloning and motion tracking, none
of witch ended up in the final
product but that was because
later on I realised that the story
and script was too ambitious and
had to be dialled back. They were
still useful as I now have an idea of
where to implement them in later
productions
5. Process – week 3
• For week 3 I had to think the final
idea and plan it. I went with
guillotine by Jon Bellion because it
is a simple idea and would be easy
to shoot. I could use lots of fancy
movements etc.
• I created a storyboard, shot list,
broke down all the verses and
created a concept board
• The planning really helped me to
visualise my video and work out
any issues that came up. I also
made a plan B in case something
went wrong. Nothing did but it
was good to have a backup
6. Process – week 4
• Week 4 was production and
editing. I shot everything on
Friday and Sunday and editing on
the rest of the week. I shot as
much b-roll as I could to make
sure I had enough footage on
Friday and the main parts with the
same actors on Sunday.
• Whilst editing I ran out of usable
footage so had to cut the song
down. I didn’t want to do this but I
also didn’t want to have to re-use
some footage.
• I tried to add come fancy colours
but found it difficult because it
looked different on other screens
which was difficult to work with
7. Process – week 5
• In week 5 I evaluated every aspect
of my work from the research and
planning to the tech qualities and
audience appeal. I also got peer
feedback from 3 separate people
and had them write down what
was good and what could be
improved. The peer feed back was
good as it told me I what I have to
improve on next time around and
• I think the tech qualities are very
detailed because I know the most
about that and can write about it
easily.
• I am quite happy with the
evaluation as it is the most
detailed one I have done in a topic
so far
