3. Student’s Learning Outcome
• Make simple sentences using SV (Subject + Verb) and SVO
(Subject + Verb + Object) pattern.
• Demonstrate use of subject – verb agreement according to
person and number.

•SENTENCE
A Sentence is a group of words which starts with capital
letter and ends with full stop (.), question mark (?) etc.

5. Structure of Sentence
•VERBS
•SUBJECTS
•PREDICATES
Subject + Verb (SV) or Subject + Verb + Object (SVO).

6. •The SUBJECT is usually a noun, a word that names a
person, place, or thing. (Ali, Hasan, He, She, They,
Karachi)
•The VERB usually follows the subject and identifies an
action or state being. (play, read, drink etc)
•Nouns may also work as OBJECTS in sentences
(subjects usually do, objects receive the action and
usually follow the verb.

•The subject and verb must agree in number: both must
be singular, or both must be plural. e.g. The student
sings. The children sing.
•THE PREDICATE; After identification of Subject, the
remaining part of sentence tells us what the subject
does or did. This part of sentence is called predicate.

She sleeps. They like rice.
She sleeps soundly. The people like rice.
She sleeps every afternoon. The people in the restaurant
like rice.
She is sleeping right now. The people like boiled rice.
The dogs are sleeping in the
street.
The people like hot, white rice.

10. Identify the Subject, Verb, and Object
•Javed hit the ball with his bat.
•The people in the restaurant like rice.
•They watch a cricket match on the television.
