GRAMMAR
• Grammar is an essential part to understanding and properly using the English
language
• Therefore it is important for one to understand the basics and main features of
grammatical use.
ENGLISH GRAMMAR
• Gramma is study of forms of speech that are concerned with the right use and application of the
rules of a language, in speaking or writing.
• The art of speaking or writing with correctness or according to established usage; speech
considered with regard to the rules of a grammar.
• English gramma includes:
• Parts of speech (Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives, Adverbs, pronouns, etc)
• Grammatical units (Sentences, Clauses, Phrases, Words, etc)
• Grammatical categories (Tenses, Aspects, Voices, Numbers, etc)
BASICS OF ENGLISH GRAMMA
• Present tense: The verb BE has three forms: AM, IS, ARE, which we have to use
according to the pronoun or subject.
• Negative sentences: You can make negative sentences by adding NOT after am, is,
are, as.
• Yes / no questions: The Yes / No Questions are called that because the answers
always start with Yes or No.
• Demonstratives: We use THIS / THESE when the objects are near to the speaker. We
use THAT / THOSE when the objects are far from the speakers.
• Possessive adjectives (I, My, You, Your, He, His, She).
• WH – QUESTIONS- The wh-questions look for information according to the
question word. In this kind of questions you never answer Yes or No, because
they are asking for some information. The answer is a statement with the
information according to the question word.
• Present continuous- The present continuous tense is used to describe activities
that happen now, that means activities that are develop in the moment of
speaking.
