This question has helped
me get an understanding
of what people enjoy
when it comes to music
videos using Frith’s 3
types of music videos. A
narrative video won by
quite far, which gives me
confidence and
encouragement to do a
narrative music video.
3. What platform do you watch music videos on?
I wanted to know if
people actually still
watched music videos on
TV. Almost 50% of
people said they still do .
It doesn’t have a lot to do
with my production but I
simply wanted to know if
TV was still a popular
platform.
4. Which kind of genre of music do you like?
These genres are very
narrowed down, but this is
intentional as I have an idea to
make a Coldplay video so these
are popular genres within
Coldplay’s long history of
music.The most popular was
Indie Pop which is what I
actually expected, this leads
me to think my production will
be in the genre of Indie Pop.
5. What do you look for in a music video?
This question helped me
get an idea of people
enjoyed in a music video.
It is similar to question 1
but specifies a bit more.
In terms of my
production its giving me
an idea of kind of music
video I will do.
6. Do you like music videos where parts of
it are narrative without the music?
My own opinion is that I like
narrative music videos but not
so much when there is a lot of
narrative without the actual
music audio playing. So I
wanted to see what other
people thought.They shared
the same opinion. In terms of
my production it’s helped me
understand that I shouldn’t
include too much narrative
without the actual song
playing.

This question was just to see what kind
music videos people favorited over
others.There is quite an even spread
between Performance, Conceptual and
Narrative music videos. Knowing
peoples preferred music videos will help
me gain inspiration from existing
products.
