 When I began looking into my research, my first objective
was to find a target audience. This meant finding out what
age range would be suitable for the magazine I was going to
construct in the future. To find out what audience I would
be targeting I set my genre as Rap and Hip-hop. From that I
followed on to looking at current music magazines based
around those genres and these are the main three which I
came across.
 After looking at the rap magazines, I decided to create a
survey listing some questions downs so people could
answer them. To get people to use the poll I advertised it
through social media websites such as; Facebook and
Twitter. In the poll there was a specific question which was
labelled, “What is your age”. The reason to choosing this
question in the beginning was to see which target audience
will be interested the most from my previous research in rap
and hip hop music magazines. Here were the results which
ended up being based at age 16-20.
Me advertising the survey on social
media websites.
 After going through research in varies types of ways, I
finally created a focus group with students from my target
audience who helped give me feedback on what they liked
from the current music magazines and what they disliked
also including what could be improved for my upcoming
music magazines. Since the age range was focused around
older teens to young adults, my inspirations were to follow
on from the XXL magazine since that music magazine also
mainly targets elder teenagers to young adults.
 To follow on from this, when making my front cover and
main story, I decided to use a student who is involved in rap
and hip hop music so he can relate to the age group giving
him a rough look to the front cover to make it feel more
realistic and professional for the target audience to witness.
