2. So why?
I enjoy listening to R&B music and I don’t think it is a widely
known as other genres like, pop and rock.
After researching target demographics I think there is a gap
in the market for a R&B and Hip-Hop magazine, especially a
teenage audience.
I feel I know enough about R&B music to produce enough
information and material for my magazine. I also think there Is
enough material on the internet for me to produce a
successful, entertaining magazine.
I created a questionnaire in order to gather different views
about my R&B and Hip-Hop magazine.
3. The ideal demographic
R&B music magazine VIBE is produced for the target
demographic of young, urban followers of hip-hop culture.
“As the premier destination for urban entertainment and
media, Vibe Media creates solutions for advertisers looking
to engage consumers via music, entertainment, culture and
lifestyle 18-54”.
Rap Up “magazine is focused on the hip hop
and R&B aspect of the music industry, and predominantly
features interviews with artists, actors and other entertainers.
Issued quarterly, the magazine's target audience was the 14
to 28 demographic, although the demographic has
become older over time”.
After researching different demographics for R&B and Hip-
hop magazine it has helped me decide the target
audience for my music magazine.

4. Market research
I created a questionnaire in order to gather different views about
my R&B and Hip-Hop magazine.
The results showed that people also think there is a gap in the
market for this genre of magazine. It also helped me to create an
understanding of what the audience want in my magazine. Like
whether they wanted to see a big picture or a little picture and
what type of colour schemes would work well. And after talking
with different people about the magazine it has helped me
decide to what type of message I want to get across and what
type of model I want to use on the front cover.
