1. Question 2 How does your media product represent particular social groups?
My magazine represents my chosen target audience, which ranges from 15-
21 and is male and female. This is conveyed through the pictures and cover
style I have used. For example I have chosen a 17 year old model who suits
the genre.
I believe that my magazine represents similar social groups to magazines
such as Vibe and Billboard, which I looked at for my case studies. My
magazine covers Rnb, hip-pop music and this represented through the cover
lines and images that I have used.
Age, ethnicity and class is very important because people from a low class
background will be able to understand my magazine because of the
language and contents that I have listed within the magazine itself.
The audience feedback that I have received, they have suggested that the
appropriate class background in which my magazines fall under is working
class due to the journalistic style of writing that I have applied in my
magazine.
2. I have chosen a 17 year old model
who suits the genre.
3. Question 3 What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why
The institution that would distribute my media product would be ‘Prometheus global
media’ this is a world famous media distributor which develops magazines like billboard
magazine. It is an American based publishing company that publishes magazines which
covers mainly news and media. The most popular magazine they produce is ‘Billboard
magazine’; this magazine is very formal and discusses music styles therefore it doesn’t
have one gender-targeted audience.
The reason I want this institution to distribute my magazine is because genre and style
is quite similar to this media institution.
One of the other way I would distribute my magazine would via twitter, Facebook and
bbm barcode because people can easily access the magazine at any point due to the
fact that many people use mobile phone a lot therefore it could be easy for them to
read the magazine through their phone.
