Firstly, with the deepest and most sincere affection, allowing me to express my
gratitude to all the individuals and organizations who have facilitated support and
assistance throughout the learning and research process. During the time when I started
studying at the school, I have received a lot of attention and help from my teachers and
friends.
With deepest gratitude, I would like to send to all the teachers in the English
Language Department – Dai Nam University who have conveyed this valuable
knowledge to us during their time at the school. Thanks to the guidance and instructions
of the teachers, my research project can complete well.
Once again, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the teacher who has
directly helped, cared and guided me to successfully complete this report in the past.
The internship report is made for a period of nearly 5 weeks. My first step into reality is
still limited and there are many surprises so I cannot avoid shortcomings, I am looking
forward to receiving your valuable comments and suggestions for my knowledge in this
field. more complete at the same time have additional conditions, improve their
awareness.
The last and special person I want to thank is Ms. NGO THI THANH TAM - my
internship guide. She tried to give as many opportunities as possible so that I could get
the most useful experiences during my internship. She also gave me lots of advice that I
will try to follow for my future career.

I. INTRODUCTION
1.1. Profile and organization of the internship place
Incomfish established in 1999 and located in Lot A77/1- St. No. 7 - Vinh Loc
Industrial Park - Binh Tan Dist, Ho Chi Minh City.
This is a place to share experiences in food and translation with relevant professional
terms about food, etc.
It is a reputable company in the field of food investment and distribution in Vietnam, and
The key products of Incomfish are fishs and foods in Vietnam. With available potentials,
Incomfish is steadfast in every step, with a team of professionally trained, enthusiastic,
dynamic, creative and efficient staff. The company constantly asserted itself in foods
market of Vietnam.
Incomfish strives for sustainable development, becoming a leading enterprise in Vietnam
in the field of foods investment, trading and management.
Incomfish will be the place where customers give their complete trust, where employees
devote their best, shareholders are completely satisfied, and the community enjoys many
benefits.

Organization
1.2. Reasons, purposes and expectations of the internship
As an English student of Dai Nam University, I have had the task of going through
an internship, so I had the opportunity to study and work at Incomfish for my internship
course. I hope this is an opportunity for me to practice my English knowledges,
communicative skills and learning experience, soft skills from everybody in the company.
I myself think that the company is an ideal organization for students of foreign languages
to collect information and get valuable experience of work.
1.3. Internship duration

My internship lasted for nearly 5 weeks, from 31 July, 2020 until 29 august, 2020
(5 weeks). As discussed with my mentors, I was at the office five days per week from
Monday to Friday. My work started at 8 a.m and finished at 5 p.m.
II. JOB DESCRIPTION
2.1. My assigned tasks at internship place
During my internship course in the Information Technology (IT) Department of
Incomfish , my main task was a translator.
On the first day of internship, Mrs. NGUYEN THI KIM XUAN introduced staffs,
Websites, functions and duties of some Departments in the company to me, after that we
have a meeting together to discuss out my work over there.
On the second day, the IT department sent some documents need to be translated
into Vietnamese for me, it is about 300 words. The documents I worked on are quite
diversified in both type and field such as contracts, investment reports, food. After
translation process, I used email to send translation results to editors of company. Next,
I received some useful feedbacks from the department like word choice mistake,
grammar structure, spelling, etc. My supervisor gave me some advices for better
translation next time.
In addition, I have translated some of pages of the Incomfish website, after that I
had permission to upload the documents what I did to their company. Then they will
check and correct it later.
Next, apart from translating the assigned documents, I also have many
opportunities to attend meetings, conferences and seminars between the staffs and foreign
representatives from Australia, Korea, the USA, France, etc. I also had a chance to go to
the restaurant for dinner with all staffs of Incomfish, or travel some places around the
south and the north of Vietnam, etc.
Besides, I had a chance to work with Mrs. NGUYEN THI KIM XUAN, a CEO of
Incomfish, she invited me to come to her office then helped me check my translation
identify my mistakes and correct them.
After all, I have had an opportunity to work in a perfect environment like the
Department of Sales & Marketing Department with wonderful people. I think I have

owed them a lot. If I had to choose once again a place to do my internship, I would still
keep my first decision.
2.2. Working conditions and applied methods
My office is about 45 square meters, and it belongs to the Information technology
department. This is a place where I practice program works and do my document
translation.
Based on my assignments, I have recognized and appreciated several useful aspects
that I have learnt at the school. They were, namely, translation method, the process of
translation which are mentioned below:
The first method is word - for- word translation: With this method, the translator
will proceed to change the original language into the translated language by translating
sequentially from word to word and sentence to sentence. This method is only effective
when both the original and the target sentences have a similarity in sentence structure
between the two languages.
The second is literal translation. When using the full-text translation method, the
grammatical structure of the original language is transferred to the nearest structure of
the translated language, but the vocabulary is translated in the most common sense, but
contextual black. This method is also suitable for use when the word-for-word translation
method makes the sentence obscure.
The third is faithful translation. It can be described as one kind of translation which
tries to convey the meaning of words and context situation according to the grammar
rules of the target language, however, there is some unusuality or unnaturalness in the
target languge.
The forth one is semantic translation focuses to a great degree on meaning
(semantic content) and form of the original texts of high status such as religious texts ,
legal texts, literature, or speeches. Using this strategy, the translator tries to come as close
as possible to the meaning conveyed by the words by means of word order change or
word choice so that the true meaning is coveyed.

The fifth is communicative transaltion. It is freer than the above- mentioned types.
This strategy gives high priority to the message communicated in the text where the
actual form of the original is not closely bound to its intended meaning.
The sixth is idiomatic translation. It is based on the meaning of the text which aims
to produce the message of the original but tends to distort nuances of meaning by using
idioms and colloquialism where there do not exist in the original.
The seventh is free translation. As indicated by the word “free”, free translation
focuses more on content than form in the target language, as a result, sometimes the
grammar structure or the form of the words in the target language may change , the
number of words and the sentence length may vary, depending on the subjectivity of the
translator when adds explanation or comment to make clear the meaning of the original.
2.3. Favorable conditions and challenges in doing the tasks
During the time I spent on practicing, there were advantages and disadvantages in
the work which I would like to describe below:
The first is the skills that I have cultivated in college not only my language skills but
also computer skills. Since I was in school, I did not find it difficult and work well.
The second advantage is that incomfish company is the environment for me to
improve English for foods. In fact, through our work, I understand more about the foods,
the terms to be used in each case. Continuous work helped me remember these terms
directly and effectively. I feel more confident with the use of English in the real work of
foods.
The third, the language skills learned in school are improved and from that it helped
me improve my English ability. Specifically, the usage of advanced grammar and
sentence structures brought me more confident communication. I knew how to respond
to customers in English, consolidated knowledge of English learned at school, learned
more about how to respond to emails. From contacting with some foreign clients, the
improvement of my four basic skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing in English,
is better than before and I became more confident when working in a dynamic

environment, and working with experienced people who I can learn a lot of things from.
Along with the advantages of course, there was one main disadvantage that I
encountered. It is the lack of experience in real work and the field that I worked in. It led
to the decrease of my confidence when communicating and working with foreign
customers and the difficulties in solving problems related to export and import. To be
more specific, a large amount of export and import vocabulary was hard to understand at
the very beginning and some stages in the working process were totally new to me.

III. JOB RESULTS AND PERSONAL EXPERIENCES
During the internship, I have addressed several solutions as mentioned below:
Firstly, I have learnt the ways to directly to ask questions related to the work with
the instructor. It helped me be smooth in the working process without any
misunderstanding. I had poor communication skills but as the job required
communication with foreign clients, it pushed me to my best to improve my laking skills.
Days by days, my skills in communicating is improving and I know the ways to express
my ideas to people or let everyone to know my own views for the things we were
discussing about.
Secondly, during my time at the company I have tried to improve my knowledge on
of the work itself of the company and of the sector. I recognized that my working
experience has been better and the foods work did not make have any problems. And then
I have received lots of good recommands from everyone in the company.
Thirdly, I think that it is important to work in a company where one builds
relationships with every colleague in the company so at the first period, I built myself
with a good attitude when working. This attitude includes good relationships with
colleagues in the company. I felt it was necessary because when I worked, I could ask
someone who had experience and they were very warm and helpful to me. Thank to them,
I could overcome the difficulties of the job. Additionally, I try and to be more proactive
in your work, learn more from experienced people, business English, as well as train
myself to be more self-confident.
When I was doing my internship, I had a lot of chances to use my knowledge to
apply into real situation and it was very useful for my work. In addition, I could use my
knowledge to support my internship work. I learn more experience to support for my job
in the future. In my opinion, it seemed hard to count what the practicum period brought
to me. For instance, I gained tremendous professional experience in work and hilarious

things. It was more considerable that I was able to learn how to behave appropriately in
working environment. Moreover, I could select and solve the information. Hence, my
useful skills in translator have been developed day by day.
After finishing my practicum period, I also felt that I became more and more mature.
One of my biggest targets is to reach good marks for the internship period; I have
improved myself in working style. The first was my behavior with everybody. The second
was how to deal with customers and counterpart. And I could control time when allocating
task by myself. The most important is that I also improved my ability in English and and
know more in the using of computer skills.
After finishing my practicum period, I also felt that I became more and more mature.
One of my biggest targets is to reach good marks for the internship period; I have
improved myself in working style. The first was my behavior with everybody. The second
was how to deal with customers and counterpart. And I could control time when allocating
task by myself. The most important is that I also improved my ability in English.
Besides, there are also things that I haven't done yet: First, my on-class knowledge
prevented me from fishing my practicum well. I lacked of vocabulary in my translation
work. This led to a short delay in translation and lack of diversity in the documents.
Second, my English communication skills are not improving as much as I expected
because the practice time is limited and the internship takes place during COVID - 19
translation season.

IV. CONCLUSION
4.1. Personal assessment of job results and experiences
After a period of practicing at the company, I have achieved remarkable results and
the things that I do not think I can do, but now I can do well such as learning from
experience, acquiring a lot of new knowledge to bring more advantages for the future
work, accumulating experience and knowledge about a particular professional fields,
knowing how everyday work is at the company as well as its culture and working
enviroment.
This internship period also helped me force myself under discipline: “on time and
on time”.
Although I have only been working for one month, I have always finished work well.
I think of the intership as a step to me will be ready to start the my job in the future.
4.2. Analysis of the result
During the practice time, the difference between the knowledge learned and the
practice at the company is quite great. When entering the business internship the distance
from the theory learned at the university to the actual work was not small:
The first, In English-speaking schools, I have learned English that is used in
communication and basic writing but the knowledge in school does not apply much when
going to work. The knowledge I need when working does not teach much.
The second, when working, I feel my communication skills are still weak, and my job
requires a lot of communication and much more than the skills I have learned in school.
In order to be proficient in computer and work well, I searched the internet for what I
lacked.
Finally, when I was in school, I learned more about how to behave with people. I found
this to be very important and who among us must have. Working in a company requires

me to integrate, lower my ego to meet the target and ensure the success of the whole
group.
4.3. The knowledge, skills, attitudes learned during internship in the company
I gained more knowledge about foods accustomed to the foods work environment, and had a
good relationship with colleagues. The knowledge, skills and attitudes I learned in university
helped me a lot in my job such as knowledge of business English and financial English, text
reading and writing skills.
In addition, I am also trained of import and export, which is the process where I accumulated
experience, expand relationships, as well as improved communication skills to deal with
customers at home and abroad. To be more specific, they are, how to respond, reply letters,
emails, job exchanges and group work, strictly abide by internal regulations of the internship,
confidently speak English. The others are the facts that I could communicate in English, use
English in business to rich myself more knowledge, more capital from English for export. Last
but not least, I tried to fulfill the assigned tasks persistently without giving up when faced with
difficulties.
4.4. Recommendation
After the practice time, I have some ideas and suggestions for university:
First, organizing group work activities is important. In my opinion, that is an
effective way to help students become more active as well as understand how to work in
groups.
Second, schools and faculties should provide opportunities for students to learn more
about translation and interpreting. If it is possible, so students can have the opportunity to
interact with foreigners.
Third, in the teaching of specialized knowledge in business English, teachers can
intergrate and expand vocabulary for students to add other fields related to English such
as translation - interpreting, import and export.
Fourth is adding computer science to foreign language students because it is very
important for future work such as basic skills excel, word, and powerpoint.
Finally, I think that it will be better if the time for my internship course to be more
than one month because one month is too short for us to get enough experience in working

and skills in working environment. So I hope that the time for internship course should
be longer. For the company, because translation is my major so I would like to be given
more documents to translate. Besides, although the company has many tours, the company
should open more interesting tours to meet customers’ demands
