REPORT ON THE INTERNSHIP ACHIEVEMENTS AT GMO-Z.COM
RUNSYSTEM COMPANY
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1. Profile of the internship place and expectations of the internship
GMO-Z.com RUNSYSTEM was formerly RUNSYSTEM - one of the
Information Technology (IT) companies specializing in providing offshore
software for Japanese customers. The company was established in 2005 with 23
founders. Up to now, GMO-Z.com RUNSYSTEM has more than 360 creative,
experienced employees trained at leading universities in Vietnam and Japan.
Version, highly appreciated by customers, partners and markets.
GMO-Z.com RUNSYSTEM's operating areas include: Software production;
Research and development; Building Web system; Develop professional system;
System integration; Graphic design; Producing and distributing games and IT
Services (domain, hosting, cloud, SSL, Appstore ...). It is located on the 7th floor,
Ha Do Building, 02 Hong Ha Street, ward 2, Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh city.
1.2. Expectation of the internship
I also get information about the company through the website
https://runsystem.net/en/ as reading more available materials at the company. The
most interested things I found out that there are many foreign customers like
Japanese , English, French and I think that is a wonderful chance for me to apply
my English and my soft skills.
1.3. Internship time
According to the university's plan, the student’s internship lasted for four-
week from July 31st
, 2020 to August 29 th
, 2020. During this time I worked in the
Customer Service Department of Ho Chi Minh Branch GMO-z.com Runsystem
Company. The company’s working schedule is from Monday to Friday, 8:30 am
to 6 pm each day, the lunch break is from 12 p.m to 1 p.m. However, because I
worked as an intern; I only had to attend at the company three days a week and I

could have some days off during the week if I was busy. In the last week of my
internship, I was allowed to take three days off to prepare for my internship report.
2. INTERSHIP PROCESS
2.1. Assigned tasks at internship place
During my 4 – week internship, I will begin work as a tester (a person who
tests something, especially a new product of software). My main task is reading
and translating English documents of the project. Besides, I also create test case
to support other colleagues in testing product of software. Testing is the last task
in developing software process. Hence, I think that testing is a useful job.

2.2. Favorable conditions and challenges in doing the tasks
The time I spent on practicing is a long time. During this time, there were
advantages and disadvantages in the work which I would like to describe below:
Firstly, I feel the harmony and friendliness from the people around. Everyone is
always happy when I ask them to support .
Although I am a trainee, I still receive full support from the company with various
beneficial policies and allowances. Besides, I also have the opportunity to
participate in short courses on soft skills organized by the company. Finally, the
company facilitated me to use the knowledge and skills learned at school to apply
to work through the guidance from the company.
Along with the advantages of the internship there were three challenges that I
encountered.The first problem is the difficulty in understanding all the vocabulary
used in the documents I am referencing. Although we had some lessons on the IT
topic, I only learned about the holistic view. Another problem was
communication. Communication is one significant factor when we are working in
the office to keep the harmony among workers. However, I am a very timid person
so when meeting new people I am afraid to talk with them or do not know how to
talk. The last problem I was struggling was the working time. The schedule of
the office was slightly different from the one of university. For nearly four years
I am used to the time when I attend the lectures for two to three hours in the
morning or in the afternoon, we take short breaks every class or have two or three
days off a week. However, when taking part in the placement we had to do two
spells of work a day and only had one hour for lunch break.
2.3. Basic solution and general achievement
During the internship, I have addressed several solutions as mentioned below:

Firstly, I had a big gap in knowledge of many fields in my tasks ,so I tried to spend
time studying and accumulating knowledge to fill in this gap. I often visited some
websites, read some documents in both Vietnamese and English regarding to all
fields concerning my job to broaden my knowledge as well as my vocabulary in
the fields.
Secondly, when studying at university, I get some knowledge about translation
and types of translated texts so I could manage to translate texts on my own first.
When the confusion of some ideas presented in the texts came, I first searched
related information on Google. Then I tried my best to comprehend the texts.
Moreover, I asked my instructor for advice and suggestion.
Thirdly, I have participated in several translation groups on face-book, and have
some friends who have translation experiences. When I had problems or
encountered difficult topics, I would ask the translators or experienced friends to
ask and seek for advice on how to translate.
3. JOB RESULTS AND PERSONAL EXPERIENCES
Taking part in a work placement had helped me improve skills in translation,
communication, and writing which are thoroughly useful for my future career.
Thanks to the internship at a information technology agency, it has opened my
eyes to the small and ordinary things of life. The most important thing is I could
overcome the limitations of language and accumulate experience in applying the
four English language skills. My experience was improved incredibly in the term
of information technology, I know more about the process of development project,
the customer’s demand for software products. After the internship, I can
confidently create English test case to my foreign clients. I become grateful for
the places I have seen and the experiences that I have had with my colleagues. As
some moments are truly incredible, and I end up smiling wider than I have ever
done before. Life has such wonderful things to enjoy and learn. I have had another
view of Vietnam’s strength in this period, everyone tries to fight the virus.
3.1. Personal assessment of job results and experiences

Translation: When working in the information technology industry, I enjoyed the
fact that we had to use English virtually all the time since all the required
documents were in English and we also worked with global people.
Simultaneously, I gained more knowledge about the customer care situation and
the new technology products. Moreover, I had the opportunity to be exposed to
many new industries and products in all over the world mainly from to India,
Singapore, Philippines, European countries even to Americas, etc.
Communication: Communication was one thing everybody needs to be able to do,
whether when discussing a brief, writing an article, or conducting an interview.
One of the goals I had set for myself before starting my internship was to reduce
my anxiety when talking to strangers. Without feeling nervous, I could speak
clearly. I was willing to asking the question without fear. Sometimes the most
important developments were the small ones and getting used to talking to
strangers is going to help me massively in the future, especially at things like
interviews.
Writing: Getting involved in writing testcase to tester was a good way of
strengthening writing skills. I learned that an offering testcase should be brief and
clear. I know how to use commands, use specialized words. I can write short,
concise and easy-to-understand sentences.
3.2. Effectiveness of knowledge, skill and attitude obtained at the university
in doing internship task
Based on my assignments, I have recognized and appreciated several useful
aspects that I was learning at university. They were namely translation method,
the process of translation, types of translated texts.
3.2.1. Translation methods
Translation is an art, and, like all other arts, it is difficult to master, for it seeks to
convey the exact meaning of what is expressed in one language into another. Its
very nature, therefore, requires an intimate knowledge of both the languages
concerned – a requisition not easily to be met with. Knowledge is here intended

to imply capacity to comprehend and express. We must first be able to understand
exactly what is intended to be conveyed, and then to express the very same
thought in the other language.
Although I have difficulty in translating, but I am enthusiastically guided by a
colleague with helpful advice: Firstly, read the vernacular passage carefully,
marking all such words or phrases as you do not clearly understand. Remember
that words do not have a fixed meaning. They have more than one meaning, and
you have to find out exactly the meaning intended by the writer. Then and then
only will you be able to translate exactly into English the main thought of the
writer given in the vernacular passage. Secondly, try to avoid the use of many
words when a single word, rightly chosen, will do. The whole art of translation
lies in the careful choice of exact words. Lastly, If a sentence is inconveniently
long or bears an involved construction, break it up in your mind in three or four
shorter sentences, and then translate them into English but see that in doing so
you have not sacrificed or mutilated the sense of the original.
I had to write English test case so I struggled with writing in English and it can
seem like a real challenge to improve. I had to try myselft to expand my
vocabulary. When I learn a new word, I try learn all the forms of that word and
the prepositions that are usually used with it. I must know how to spell those words
correctly by practice my spelling using flash cards and test myself whenever I
have some spare time. In addition, grammar is very important because it improves
the quality of our writing. Always we use the appropriate tense and remember to
use punctuation. Punctuation is a great way to make our writing clear and fluent.
So that, I always proof-read my writing twice. The first time, I look for general
mistakes and the second time I look for mistakes with the particular grammar
point.
3.2.2. Example

There are three main steps in a process and translation namely Approaching a text,
Interpreting the source text, Formulating the translated text, Review and
comparison, Editing the translated text/Final draft.
3.4. The knowledge, skills, attitudes learned during internship in the
company:
With a dynamic, creative working environment as well as customers from many
countries around the world, GMO is an ideal internship environment that I am
fortunate to have the opportunity to meet and experience. Through this internship,
I can apply and accumulate a lot of knowledge and also draw many experiencing
lessons to have a more specific view of my job. In addition, by completing an
internship, I can practice my English language skills, have more specialized
knowledge and skills that employers seek in the information technology.
Although the courses taken in university can help me prepare for a future career
in a specific field, it is the experiential component that provides the skills
necessary to enter a field and be successful. Apart from building a relationship
with another colleague at the new environment, the internship improves not only
English, IT skills but also my soft skills such as presentation, communication, and
etc. I myself will try to show my good ability to hope for the opportunity to
become an part time official employee of the company.
4. RECOMMENDATION
4.1. Differences between knowledge, skills and attitude gained at the university
and those from the internship:
During the practice time, the difference between the knowledge learned and the
practice at the company is quite great. When entering the business internship the
distance from the theory learned at the university to the actual work is not small:
Firstly, I learned that the academic environment differs from the working
environment. At university, I can both learn and play. This helps me gain
knowledge quickly and effectively. In contrast, the internship gives me a serious
environment, where working time is just for work and playing time is just for play.

Actually, I was assigned to translate many documents during my working time,
or if there were no texts to translate, I was assigned to do other tasks, so there was
no time to play anymore.
Secondly, during the internship at GMO Runsystem company, I discovered one
skill used for translating is different between academic and internship. It is the
skill to translate with Google Translate tool. When learning and practicing
translating, my teachers did not allow us to use this tool frequently since they were
afraid that we could be depended on it. Otherwise, as working in the company, I
usually had to use Google translation tool to support my translation. Without it, I
thought I could not meet the deadline because there were a lot of texts for
translating. Now I know how to use this tool to produce the natural translations.
4.2. Suggestions on the possible ways to fill the gaps between academic abilities
and real-life work
To myself, my friends and my university
Fist, the documents of teaching and learning should be written in bilingual
languages (Vietnamese and English) so that students can improve their English
skills (reading, speaking, writing and so on)
Second, English students should be learned about IT skills such as Microsoft
office especially data analyzing.
Third, students should be trained some soft skills: customer services, professional
communication skills, marketing skills, selling skills by the university.
Fourth, each student needs to practice self-learning. They have to practice using
English more via newspapers, English websites relating to their studying section.
Especially, they should practice writing business emails.
Fifth, organizing group work activities is important. In my opinion, that is an
effective way to help students become more active as well as understand how to
work in groups.

Finally, university and faculty should provide opportunities for students to learn
more about translation and interpreting if it is possible, so students can have the
opportunity to interact with foreigners.

AUTOMATED TELLER MACHINE
Chapter 1
Introduction
1.1 Purpose
This document describes the software requirements for an automated teller machine
network ATM. It is intended for the designer developer and maintainer of the ATM.
1.2 Scope
The function of the ATM is to support a computerized banking network.
1.3 Overview
The remainder of this document is organized as follows: There will be some
definitions of important terms. Section 2 contains a general description of the ATM.
Section 3 identifies the specific functional requirements, the external interfaces and
performance requirements of the ATM.
1.4 Definitions
 Account
A single account in a bank against which transactions can be applied Accounts
may be of various types with at least checking and savings A customer can hold more
than one account.
 ATM
A station that allows customers to enter their own transactions using cash cards
as identification. The ATM interacts with the customer to gather transaction information
to the central computer for validation and processing, and dispenses cash to the
customer. We assume that an ATM need not operate independently of the network.
 Bank

A financial institution that holds accounts for customers and that issues cash
cards authorizing access to accounts over the ATM network.
Bank computer
The computer owned by a bank that interfaces with the ATM network and the
bank’s own cashier stations. A bank may actually have its own internal network of
computers to process accounts, but we are only concerned with the one that interacts
with the network.
 Cash card
A card assigned to a bank customer that authorizes access to account using an
ATM machine. Each card contains a bank code and a card number, coded in accordance
with national standards on credit cards and cash cards. The bank code uniquely identifies
the bank within the consortium. The card number determines the accounts that the card
can access. A card does not necessarily access all of a customer’s accounts. Each cash
card is owned by a single customer, but multiple copies of it may exist, so the possibility
of simultaneous use of the same card from different machines must be considered.
 Customer
The holder of one or more accounts in a bank. A customer can consist of one or
more persons or corporations; the correspondence is not relevant to this problem. The
same person holding an account at a different bank is considered a different customer.
 Transaction
A single integral request for operations on the accounts of a single customer. We
only specified that ATMs must dispense cash, but we should not preclude the possibility
of printing checks or accepting cash or checks. We may also want to provide the
flexibility to operate on accounts of different customers, although it is not required yet.
The different operations must balance properly.
Chapter 2
General Description
2.1 Product Perspective
The ATM network doesn’t work independently It has to work together with the
computers/software owned by banks. There are clearly defined interfaces for the
different systems.
2.2 Product Functions
The software should support a computerized banking network. Each bank provides its
own computer to maintain its own accounts and process transactions against them.
Automatic teller machines communicate with the banks’ computer. An automatic
teller machine accepts a cash card interacts with the user communicates with the bank
computer to carry out the transaction dispenses cash and prints receipts. The system
requires appropriate record keeping and security provisions. The system must handle
concurrent access to the same account correctly. The banks will provide their own

software for their own computers The cost of the shared system will be apportioned
to the banks according to the number of customers with cash cards.

 ATM
Một trạm cho phép khách hàng nhập các giao dịch của riêng họ bằng thẻ tiền mặt làm
giấy tờ tùy thân. ATM tương tác với khách hàng để thu thập thông tin giao dịchgửi thông
tin giao dịch đến máy tính trung tâm để xác nhận và xử lýnhận và phân phối tiền mặt
cho khách hàng. Chúng tôi giả định rằng máy ATM không cần hoạt động độc lập với

 Ngân hàng

 Khách hàng
Chủ sở hữu của một hoặc nhiều tài khoản trong ngân hàng. Một khách hàng có thể bao
gồm một hoặc nhiều người hoặc công ty; thư tín không liên quan đến vấn đề này. Cùng
một người nắm giữ tài khoản tại một ngân hàng khác nhau được coi là một khách hàng
khác nhau.

 Giao dịch

nhận một thẻ tiền mặt tương tác với người dùng giao tiếp với máy tính ngân hàng để
thực hiện giao dịch tiền mặt và in biên lai. Hệ thống yêu cầu lưu trữ hồ sơ phù hợp và
quy định bảo mật. Hệ thống phải xử lý quyền truy cập đồng thời vào cùng một tài khoản
chính xác. Các ngân hàng sẽ cung cấp phần mềm riêng cho máy tính của họ. Chi phí hệ
thống chia sẻ sẽ được phân bổ cho các ngân hàng theo số lượng khách hàng có thẻ rút
tiền mặt.
