1. EVALUATION QUESTION #6
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
In todays day and age, technology is everything for a film maker. The whole
process of creating a movie and even showcasing it makes use of technology. It is
because of this phenomenon that making movies is much easier and the end
product is good.
I made use of a variety of technologies during the shooting, editing and
showcasing of my film. I shot my film using a Canon EOS 600D, DSLR camera. I had
never handled this kind of a camera for a long time before but I found it easy to
use and some of the options it had like the focus lens and LCD screen helped me
see shots in greater depth and its quality was better than any ordinary camera. I
used the tripod to take a few shots for a smooth result and I must say it gave me
professional shots instead of clumsy and shaky shots. I also made use of tungsten
lights for the indoor scenes.
2. For my film, the main character Sophia, needed to use a few electronic props so I
provided her with my cell phone, laptop, mp3 player and wrist watch. Most of my
film revolved around these items so therefore technology proved to be very
useful for my film. On the laptop, Sophia was shown using few different social
websites such as Omegle, Tumblr, Twitter and Gmail. The whole chat she had
with the stranger was on the website Omegle.
After shooting the film, I began the editing process. I edited the whole film using
Adobe Premiere. I worked on this software for the first time in making a proper
opening sequence and it was extremely helpful and easy to use once I understood
it. I also used Adobe PhotoShop for making my production logo. First I drew the
logo, then scanned it by a scanner and then edited it on PhotoShop to give it a
professional look. For the soundtracks I used a website called Jamendo and for
other random sounds I used the website SoundJay. I did all this work on a Dell PC
at my college.
3. When the film making process was complete, I used social networking sites to
showcase my film. I uploaded my film on Facebook to get instant feedback from
the people who saw it. I also uploaded the film on Vimeo for the public to view
my film. I linked the film to my blog on Wordpress. Wordpress is where I have
posted all my research and the step by step processes of making my film. I have
never had a blog before but this is a great website where one can look at all my
work in detail. It is also helpful, as through other blogs we can find useful
information. (wordpress, facebook and vimeo screenshots)
